"Under new ownership: Woodett 's Diner offers a special weekend only French bistro. The new owners are a married couple, one is French, and the other is Greek, and they met in France. 22 years ago they came to the United States and brought a glorious assortment of tasty flavors with them. You can still get breakfast and lunch throughout the week, including some classics carried over from the previous owner i.e.: biscuits and gravy), but as an additional perk, you can also get a very high quality meal on the weekend, with a rotating menu every 4 weeks. Keep your eye on this establishment, it will probably emerge as one of the highest quality restaurants in Gardnerville, NV. My table ordered a filet mignon in peppercorn sauce $29, most expensive item on the menu), a filet of chicken I 'm told it was a little dry, even though swimming in butter), baked salmon I 'm told it was also noticably swimming in butter, but not sure that 's a problem), salmon tartar a starter, very good), a goat cheese salad fresh and excellent), and three desserts each was excellent, and very saucy). Flavored bread rolls were served at the table with butter upon arrival. My overall impression is that this chef, Ramon, knows what he 's doing. The food was prepared with expert precision, and simple but clean presentation. I 'm told he 'd like to move away from short order diner cook and get back to his real passion, chef of a French bistro. I additionally ordered a glass of Cabernet, which though I did not know the label, it was quite good. I 'd be interested in finding out what it was, and I 'm secretly hoping it was something quite affordable. A friend of mine once told me, the best wine in the world is the one you like. My advice: continue to minimize the diner feel, replace the cool white bulbs in the chandeliers with warm colors, and continue to go for the high quality market share. There 's plenty of diners in town, but I want to transcend time and space, escape, and find myself in the movie Ratatouille. I miss sitting at a nice comfortable restaurant, and watching the people go by in the streets a classic French bistro pastime. Let me know if you need some French music. Old review previous owner): Diner cuisine. Diner coffee. Diner service. Diner prices. Comfortable booths. Parking lot feels a little tight in an SUV, but there 's ample parking all around. Successful visit."
