"I was kind of disappointed. I had seen pictures and was really excited to try this place today Based on the pictures I saw online, I had really expected my food to be at least good. Well, if I asked how my visit was, I can only say it was okay. Why? Let's start at the beginning. When we entered a sign, they said we were supposed to sit like that, but no one came so that we were not sure what to do. I'm waiting because the music was nice and I was vibin'. Finally, a man came by after some other people came in and said we could sit over there. We had no idea what he was talking about, but on a sofa ended to wait to take place. We're not sure who the man was when we didn't see him anymore. After about 30 minutes waiting because they were very busy, we sat at a table. I had no problem with waiting because I expected great food. Our server asked if it was our first time. So he gave us the run I liked. We set our orders and waited some time to come for our food. No problem again. I learned to wait for lack of help. When our food arrived, we were so excited because it looked so delicious, not the case. So my collars were not seasoned, but were sweet, very disappointing and confusing. We also had shrimps and grits that were plentiful, but Bland. Needed salt and sharp cheese. Now the grain bread was good. Moist and sweet, but too small, I would have needed a bigger piece. The crab cakes were ok, I loved that they fried and seasoned well, a good part and not much filler, but they were also not lump. But that was okay because they tasted okay. $15.99 for two crabcakes, two sides and cornbread was not bad, but it should be at least good... not just okay. Also our server was ok... he wasn't very attentive. We had to keep his attention to ask for things like utensils? Napkins and refills. I don't like an unattended server. We also had a turkey club with fries and eggs Benedict with crabcake and potato haash that were all right. I'm not saying you shouldn't try it, I really think you should be and your own judge, I just don't think it's the whole hype out there. My pictures even see how the food tastes great, but not the case for me. I'm sorry."

I had an amazing brunch experience! The food was absolutely delicious. The French toast and fried Whiting were incredibly flavorful. My husband and I are definitely planning to come back. Our server was fantastic as well! I can't recall his name, but he had his hair styled in a bun and a vibrant personality.

Yoolks On Us is another amazing family breakfast spot we found on our trip. 100% recommend if you’re staying in the area or just passing through! Food is delicious, drinks look great and the service was spot on! we came on a Sunday and it was busy! We were lucky and got right in but be prepared to wait a few minutes. Turn overs seemed quick so hopefully it’s the same experience for you!

I heard about this black owned Portsmouth spot from IG. We arrived at 11am on Sunday and it was busy, but no wait. The atmosphere was causal and relaxed. The menu included breakfast and brunch items. It was tough to decide, but I was in the mood for cheese grits, turkey sausage, and eggs. My date chose the Supreme French toast. The crab and salmon cakes were tempting. I will try them next visit. The food was delicious, affordable, and good sized portions. We will definitely be back. View menu

Yolks on Us is OVERALL AMAZING!!! My first time there was great and it will now be my staple breakfast joint! GOODBYE IHOP! Not only is it black owned with a beautiful and inviting set up, but they also have unique food items like GIANT mimosas! They also had a mostly black staff! Service by Melissa was so good, friendly, and attentative. There were NO issues and we were seated immediately! The French toast was a 10/10 and the prices were very reasonable! Everyone neeeds to eat here at least once!

Finally, a restaurant that greets customers when you walk through the doors. My family and I enjoyed our food and service.ATTENTION DRINK LOVERS: You have got to see the $35 mixed drink. (see image) Drink responsibly. You could also see a mix of all nationalities coming in to dine. I'm unsure if that was due to the Harborfest, but it was surely a plus. The only suggestion I would give to management is... to increase signage outside. We were unsure of where the restaurant was. GPS helps, but so much. (a two-sided Chalkboard display may help)

This is the only restaurant where, as a solo diner, I was warmly welcomed and asked if I would like someone to join me for breakfast, rather than receiving the usual judgmental "Just one?" from less attentive hosts. Additionally, I don't think I've ever been offered catfish with my eggs before, but I'm so glad I decided to try it! This charming café in the old town was delightful. My waitress was wonderful, the staff was amazing, and the food was so delicious that I regretted not coming back for three of the four days I spent in Portsmouth! View menu

Such a great place! Came for breakfast at 930ish on Friday and was seated right away. Waitress and staff were great and attentive. Small establishment but I did see another area off to the side that was sectioned off. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side order of catfish and cheese eggs. My friend ordered the salmon cakes with scrambled eggs and grits! Man the food was so flavorful and delicious. Coffee was great which I can appreciate. I will visit again, music was a mix of old and new school r&b and neo soul which made the ambiance nice and chill. Food came out super fast also.Check them out!

The jokes on us, where can I start. First off, put 3/4 of cheap orange juice and 1/4 to stretch it out. We got Arnold Palmer's, those were delicious, Taylor our waitress, was great!!! Food looks good, taste is another baby. My veggie omelette was good, but lazy, they put all the veggies on top and cheese wasn't melted all the way through. Pancakes, were weak, the mix is very generic. The red velvet taste nothing like red velvet, the icing is put on to help mask the strange taste. I giving my reviews in weed grade, this is definitely Reggie. If, your on this side of town, you can stop past, but it's not worth me , coming from Norfolk to eat here. Until my next review, Boston out!!!
