"I had previously visited Hickory Park and enjoyed my experience, but this time I ordered the barbecue platter featuring beef, ham, and turkey. While it was decent, I found myself somewhat disappointed. The beef was excellent, the turkey was alright, but the ham was completely unappetizing. On the positive side, the service was very good. However, when I left, I felt like I had just been to a cafeteria rather than a barbecue restaurant. Moving forward, I think I'll stick with Cornbread."

"I like different. Not so much that things should be upside down. The Mucky Duck was just a little bit different than your typical brew pub. The food is of a British nature and most enjoyable. I love fish and chips but did not order it. As I like different, I tried the curried chicken and it was rather tasty. While I was eating I overheard another patron commenting to one of the wait staff that he thought the fish and chips were the best he'd had. The staff were friendly and that always matters."

"It was a bad night. I've never felt the food was great but thought it was good. Unfortunately, I made a reservation but when we got there the table we asked for got snatched away before we could take it. Was told well, the outside tables are first come first serve. Then ordered my meal as gluten free. She even made a big deal about it...then brought me a gluten pasta. Had my boyfriend not asked to make sure, I would have assumed it was GF and just ate it. He ate his meal while I waited another 25 min to get mine. They did take it off my bill which was very nice. He had the salmon and said it was wonderful however sticky rice was plain and bland. It was just not a good night for them that night... maybe next time!! "There was some trepidation when I saw that two items which are usually staples at barbecue restaurants were not on the menu. Baked beans and potato salad, have been omitted for some reason. Was pleasantly surprised when the platter came out and I saw the brisket. Knew right away. It was going to be Great. Fall apart tender and moist. Wonderful bark and smoke ring. kudos to the pitmaster he/she knows what they’re doing. Sides were tasty showing that the chef had an artistic flare. My only complaint would be. I could’ve ate twice as much brisket as it was on the plate. Overall fantastic experience would not hesitate to go back. Three types of sauces on the table. Some of the Best Brisket I’ve had outside the borders of the State of Texas."

"Found this place on Trip Advisor. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. It wasn’t very busy at the time. I was impressed straight away by the fact that as a Pub there was no stale beer smell! Kudos to whoever makes that happen!!! I ordered the traditional corned beef and cabbage and my husband ordered the potato soup and half ruben. He liked his very much. Mine was beyond awesome, in my humble opinion. Oh and it came with mashed potatoes, that needed nothing added. For lunch, it was a large portion and I’m a little gal who doesn’t eat a lot for lunch. Oh my goodness did I pig out. I couldn’t finish all of it but I sure put the hurt on it. When returning to see family up that way again we would not only return but encourage the whole family to join us."

"It’s hard to find decent gyros in Iowa, this the exception. The meat was not greasy, light and perfectly seasoned. There was a lot of it! The pita bread was grilled and not burnt. Now let’s discuss the little things. Real sweet butter in a larger single serving packet. Creamy and smooth and not frozen. The salt and pepper shakers were clean inside and outside. The glimpse into the kitchen showed a clean well organized space. Twinkly lights around the ceiling perimeter to set a wonderful ambience. Go eat here, you won’t be disappointed"

"UPDATE! 2nd visit I was able to make a stop and tried the gyro and a Nerd Long Island! The drink was fruity and fabulous . The gyro was good, but the Cuban was better. Best kept secret. I've lived near Ames most of my life and have never tried Cafe Beaudelaire. Based on a recommendation from a coworker, I decided to try it for lunch. I had the Cuban sandwich and wasn't disappointed! I look forward to returning and trying something different (and a long Island when I don't have to return to work)."

"16oz hazelnut latte, iced, with a dash of cinnamon, but hold the employee attitude.Burgies at Southgate is a generally well designed coffee shop with some patio furniture inside for a soupçon of (ironic? low budget chic. There are too many large tables and only a few single or double spaces. Coffee ranges from passable to above average quality depending on who is in charge of the pucks that day. There’s a young man that does all of the “this makes me a viral tiktok barista” unnecessary aesthetic flourishes and flashy tricks when pulling shots and always ends up pouring a gram of awful tiger stripe silt into every cup. Employees stare at their phones and talk about customers in derisive tones within earshot. They will stand around in groups staring at customers waiting at the register because “the person assigned to the POS” is apparently the only person that can operate the complex mathematics and touch screen wizardry involved in ringing up an order; and that person may be away from the desk on break, or in the bathroom, or perhaps out to lunch. Many of them can’t even explain the menu or a basic history of the company, like it’s en vogue to not know or be ignorant while representing the business. It’s never a good look to (barely explain the flavor profile of a coffee blend by reading the bag in front of the customer asking. Professionalism and work ethic pick up when the owner is on site, but it shouldn’t require his presence to do that. I have enjoyed the coffee here for almost a decade, especially the years when Luke was pulling shots, but those days are gone and the customer service has taken a notable hit since then. Order something to go and enjoy it somewhere away from The Plastics behind the counter."

"This is a fantastic little microbrewery! It's the perfect spot to catch up with friends after work. During the summer, they host live music and food trucks, which adds to the experience. I really enjoy their fruit-based beverages and have tried both the ginger beer and the hard cider. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something different from the usual chain restaurants downtown."

"I believe this was the cleanest restaurant I've ever been in. Fast food or otherwise. I love Chick-fil-A. There isn't one close to where I live. The Marquee said that peach shake was the flavor of the month. I mentioned it to my wife and she didn't think it would be very good. I am very very happy to say that she was wrong! Definitely one of the best flavor of shake I've ever had in my life. A few days ago my wife and I went to a restaurant close to us. I just had to get one more peach shake before they were gone. Of course I asked my wife to try it and she really enjoyed it too."

"I have been going to el Azteca approximately 2-3 times a month for the last 2.5 years, and I can say without a doubt, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the entire Midwest. Food: El Azteca has the best chipotle sauce I’ve ever had a Mexican restaurant, nowhere else compares. Since I started going there, I now try the chipotle sauce dishes at all other Mexican restaurants and El Azteca has yet to be beaten. My favorite dishes there are the Chaca’s burrito, the chipotle quesadilla with chicken, or the pollo al chipotle (pictured). My partner always gets a cheese quesadilla with rice, with a side of queso (pictured), which never disappoints her as well. Some of the combination plates I have tried do remind me of a standard Mexican restaurant, their speciality offerings bring them up to a 5 star experience. Their lime jumbo margaritas are very good as well! Price: very reasonable. I think the current prices for regular entrees are about 10-15 per plate. The order of a cheese quesadilla with rice is like $6. Service: the service here is always fantastic. While the restaurant can at times be packed, I have never had to wait long to be seated, and have always been waited on right away. Their food is always FAST and PIPING HOT. They also can get food to you in record time. Sometimes, the meals are out in less than five minutes. It is not uncommon for other waiters/waitresses to come over and refill drinks, etc, so you feel taken care of. Atmosphere: this is by far the cleanest Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Seriously, at least from what I can see, they run a tight ship. It is honestly hard to go to other restaurants because it is clear that they take cleanliness seriously. The ambiance of the restaurant is not over the top, it’s very standard fair."

"One of my favorite places! I try to visit Le's whenever I can, though it's not as often as I'd like. It's a charming little restaurant that's tucked away, always clean with prompt and professional service. I always start with their cream cheese wontons, and every entrée comes with a delicious egg roll, plus a choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup—I personally prefer the hot and sour. My favorites on the menu are the Mongolian beef and curry. "

"I'll start by saying the staff were wonderful with the kids. No major issues with the food, flavor-wise. Our rice had a funny almost-burnt taste to it. Now... We went in tonight at 5 for dinner. We ordered a children's steak hibachi, a children's shrimp hibachi, a children's order of chicken nuggets fries, and an adult's steak hibachi. We had 2 kids sprites, an adult soda, and a virgin strawberry blended drink. We were also told that the June special was birthdays, and because we had two to celebrate, we'd be receiving 10% off our check (we didn't). Somehow, our bill was $107. I brought up to the wait staff that we were being charged for 3 adult hibachi meals and that this was incorrect. 3 different staff were brought to the register, and not one of them would fix our bill. We were very disappointed and we will unfortunately not be back."

"I am disappointed to write this review. I used to visit this restaurant for their breakfast burritos at least once a week. The food used to be really good, but last Friday I ordered 4 burritos for myself and my colleagues, costing over $50 in total, and they were terrible. They were cold when I received them, and they did not taste right. The filling was off and the tortilla was torn. Later that day, I saw a Facebook post from another customer who witnessed the staff serving food that had fallen on the floor. It happened at the same time that I was there. I will not be returning to this restaurant."
