"The owners, Fritz Paula, are so kind. They offer exceptional hospitality: I called around 7:30 in the evening to check if they had availability, and lucked out. Paula ran upstairs to warm up our room before we arrived (she mentioned it only because we shared with her that the room was warm). They met all our needs and preferences without any hesitation. I had mentioned that we are vegetarian and was told that they make food to order, which was so refreshing. Where else are you going to get service like that? Certainly not from a big chain hotel. They served us a delicious breakfast. Fritz is a chef and baked pastries first thing in the morning. He asked us what we would like to eat for breakfast. We picked omelettes! He made us delicious vegetarian omelettes with the eggs and vegetables cooked to perfection. He also made his mother’s pumpkin recipe on the side. The breakfast also came with potatoes, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, and fresh fruit. EVERYTHING was fresh and tasty. My mother is not easily pleased, so you know the food is good when she raves about it. She ate everything! Right before departing, Fritz played us a song from The Sound of Music on his beautiful accordion. And, gave us recommendations on where to go and what to see at our next destination. He is full of positive energy. I can’t say enough on what a lovely experience we had. Thank you Fritz and Paula!"

"Went here for the Golden Gays brunch on 4/14. It was my first time here. Cute little place minus the construction in the front) and they were PACKED for this event. My girlfriend and I ran late, and didn't have a table to sit at.. Mike managed to get a table and set us up by the vault which was pretty cool, and much appreciated!)Once seated, I noticed about 4-5 servers running like CRAZY. It took us a while to get menus, but once we did, we met our waitress Elaine. Food and drinks also took a while, I ordered the chicken francese and a sex on the beach.. however once I got my food, it was cold. I told Elaine and she was very quick to rectify it. Once remade, it was delicious, definitely recommend. My girlfriend got the ravioli with meatballs- the meatballs were HUGE and she said they were very flavorful.Getting the check after the show was a whole big to-do as not only did one of their computers go down on probably one of the busiest days they've had, but a group of NINE wanted NINE DIFFERENT CHECKS from Elaine Ms. Sherry who posted her 1 star review was one of them- and many of them in that party complained about everything from the start. I was seated right across from them). Needless to say, they caused more congestion. But- BUT, one of the long time workers, Marissa I will never forget her) cleared out the 9 drunken old ladies, myself and 3 other people behind me in about 10 mins! I have never seen someone move so swiftly and efficiently at a cash register!I stayed around after Marissa cashed me out she is an absolute sweetheart and i could see the day had gotten to her) just to learn more about them and the place. I found out that 2 workers called out on the day of this event, it was only Elaine's THIRD shift, and they had other people to come in to help them. They were overwhelmed and it showed but they did the best they could and I went from being frustrated to understanding. This one event does NOT represent the people who work here and the food they serve. Elaine, Mike, Marissa and Dave who I spoke to tonight to make my reservation for NEXT month) are people who love what they do and serve really good food! They know they have kinks to work out which is why I am willing and excited to go back next month for the 2nd Golden Gays brunch."

"We went to the Dew Drop Inn for the first time for my sons birthday on 7/23. He picked the place having heard it was good. We were immediately greeted as we walked in the door by a server with a great personality and big smile. Sat us immediately and brought us over our menus. Asked if we had more people coming, we said yes and went to get more setups and menus. They are known for their wings and have won awards for them. They have an extensive selection of wing flavors...I 'm guessing well over 40. There was 6 of us and we all ordered a different wing flavor. I ordered honey BBQ and shared them with my husband and my 89 yr old mom...they were excellent!!..my mom kept saying delicious my daughter ordered the general tso flavor. She loved them! We also ordered Asian glaze and i think a lemon pepper rub. Everyone loved their wings!! We also ordered sweet potatoe wedges...they were fantastic!! Another big hit with my mom. We also ordered a few meals. The steak and cheese grinder was a big hit as was the cheeseburger. It was cooked perfectly! We ordered it medium and it was so juicy and delicious. We also ordered a honey mustard chicken wrap, also real good. We chose waffle fries with our meals. They brought enough to feed 2 to 3 people, and they were good! They brought out our wings and sweet potatoes wedges first and waited a nice amount of time before bringing out our meals. Our server was right on top of everything. Asking if we needed anything, asked us if everything was ok. Never wondered where she was. Fantastic service! The Dew Drop Inn is worth the trip from anywhere in Ct. I will say, we went on a Tuesday around 5:30 and was able to sit right away but by 6:30/7:00 there was a wait and it got quite busy..but for good reason...its a great place to eat!! We will definitely be back!! A definite must try!!"

"First let me say that this place was busy and it has a reputation of being one of the better places in the area for pizza. I ordered a broccoli rabe and sausage largest one so as to have some leftover for the next day. Got a very nice waitress who did her best to please me and service was quick. As I am not a fan of the trend of burnt or charred on my pizza, I specifically asked for no black or burnt crust. I also asked for garlicky. What I got was a burnt pizza. Not a happy camper! All it tasted like was burnt and that taste overrides the whole taste of the pizza! So now after a busy day of working, I really just did not want to be waiting for it to be redone. Had it been daytime, I would've waited possibly. Very disappointed since I had asked for it not to be burnt. Now whose fault was it. The waitress said she told them in the kitchen so why did they do it. Sounds deliberate or not paying attention to it. Now I noticed that on this site there are a lot of pictures of charred pizzas and a lot of uncharred ones too . So it seems it can go either way. My dinner was ruined by the terrible taste of burnt and my trust lost. So I probably won't be back as I told the waitress of my big disappointment. In all fairness she made a big effort to correct this by not fully charging the price and giving me extra bread to take home, A whole loaf. I only could eat three slices of this carcaginic pizza. The burnt taste was just too strong. Some people maybe smokers who aren't so sensitive can tolerate this taste of charred it seems. So while I did not like that taste it seems this trend has become popular and that it's an indication of New Haven pizza when it's charred so everyone loves to have those bragging rights by showing off their charred pizzas. This place is popular and you need to try for yourself to see if it's for you. The toppings were generous and it does seem to be made superior to other places except for the charred part. Anyway I called up my old boyfriend who is pure Italian, a smoker and will eat charred if it's free and dropped the loaf and rest of the pizza to him at a private club he was at. When ai called to ask him if he liked it he said yes he did and thanked me. Moral of the story. Everyone has different taste buds and tastes but mine is not for burnt."
