"To start this is coming from a pit master and native of Eastern NC, so I am definitely more critical than most but we will be coming back to get more because it is a great reminder of back home. First found out about this olace when one of the owners came to get some charcoal from the place where I work in the evening and had a great conversation about BBW and smoking meats with them; and whenever someone tells me they have a North Carolina BBQ sauce I have to try it. The atmosphere here reminded me of some of the BBQ joints back home in Eastern North Carolina, you can see the 'pit ' when ordering and the service is top notch. The small dining area and all reminded me of back home. My son got the smoked Italian beef sandwich and it was the perfect size with the small and had great taste, was the perfect portion and he was more than satisfied. My wife and daughter both got burgers and loved them, from what I tried of the burgers the Plum Whiskey sauce would go amazing on them. I got the three meat combo with pulled pork (Eastern NC tradition), chicken and orange turkey. Pulled pork was the best I have had outside of the south and may even rival some of the ones I have from home. While the NC sauce is not the style I personally like it did work great with the pork and reminded me of a mixture between a Western NC and Lexington style sauce. The chicken was perfectly cooked and went great with the South Carolina Mustard sauce. The turkey was perfect and reminded me of thanksgiving meals back home, put it with some mashed potatoes and stuffing and you have a great meal. The sides were amazing. The coleslaw is the closest I have had outside of North Carolina to the one I grew up enjoying and would be great on a sandwich with the pulled pork, the brisket baked beans were amazing and the peach baked beans is a recipe I will definitely try to recreate over my own pit in the future. If you are considering trying out this place, just go it is the best BBQ that I have tried in Illinois since we have moved up here. The owners and staff are amazing and super friendly, it felt like I was back home for the time my family and I were in the restaurant. The prices are reasonably set for the area and it is very easy to get in and out of the parking lot. Overall it is a 5/5, service and atmosphere are amazing and the food is a 4/5 when compared to BBQ from back home but it a 10/5 when comparing to any other BBQ joint in northeastern Illinois. Already planning on bringing the family here when they come up again to visit. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"I planned to take my wife and daughter out for dinner. My daughter’s burger came out raw and had to be sent back. My luau bowl came out with rotten avocado on the rice and the teriyaki chicken was cold and not fresh. My wife ordered the beet and arugula salad that was to have goat cheese and beets in the salad. There was next to no beets which were canned beets not freshly cut. There was absolutely no goat cheese and the arugula in the salad was burnt and left a horrible aftertaste. We also ordered two tortilla soup bowls. They were never brought out until after the meals came and we had to inform the waitress that it was never brought out. The waitress was very kind and went to get the two bowls of tortilla soup and she said that she wouldn’t charge us for them. The young manager did bring out a new cooked hamburger but the fries were extremely over salted and the pickles which were on the side of the initial burger plate were missing and never included on the second burger plate. Something that the young manager should have noticed before bringing out the second hamburger plate) My daughter ended up not eating the fries due to the over salting issue. We were only initially comped the two soups. No offer by the young manager to comp the meals which all three orders had major preparation issues/problems. So when we got home we contacted the restaurant to speak to the restaurant manager. Well the phone rang over 15 times before being answered. The manager came to the phone and spoke to my wife. The manager apologized and was only at first going to take half off the bill for all the mishaps even though every meal had something that was majorly messed up by the kitchen staff. The manager said that they were going to have a meeting on Friday to go over all the mishaps that they had through the past week. So just by that statement we obviously were not the only customers who had food served that had issues. After my wife stated a second time to the manager that this was a serious problem of serving raw hamburger meat and rotten avocados on the luau bowl and serving a beet salad with no beets or goat cheese and burnt arugula, the manager offered to comp the meals. However, the manager did not comp the three beverages that totaled $9.00. We told the manager to leave the tip for the waitress on the bill because she did her job very well and this wasn’t her fault. So we ended up paying a total of $26.95 for the meals. $16.95 given for tip) The manager should have comped the whole ticket and just charged the tip like we requested. Something that those owning the restaurant should train the young people managing what to do when the kitchen fails on all the meals ordered for a table. The live music was great but too loud. The waitress had to strain to hear our food order. Through the time at the rLindy’s Landing our conversations were very strained due to the noise level. That dining room has no sound absorption panels on the walls so everything is amplified. The reply below by the owner is riddled with false information. The burger ordered was to be medium well and it came out raw pink and soft. The beet salad had no beets or goat cheese in it and the brussel sprouts were burnt. The avocado on the luau bowl was rotten. When the young manager came we were asked if the second burger was ok and cut into it. It was cooked correctly but the fries were over salted. The waitress asked if we wanted another set of fries but by this time we weren’t going to put our trust that the fries would be safe to eat when brought back. Just by this owner’s reply you can hear the defensive posture and no sincere apology. We also did not repeatedly say that the meal was ok. We actually said it was not good for what happened to all three meals and that’s why we called immediately once we got home. Any restaurant serving raw meat and rotten avocados, having salads come out without the proper ingredients and not serving the soup when ordered should do everything possible to correct not express frustration. "Me and my wife came here for the first time the other week. We are looking for a place to have a nice dinner and drinks for her birthday, so we wanted to see what this place was about. When we walked in we were pleasantly greeted and asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, but that was just fine as she found us an empty table anyways! The place was fairly busy, almost every table full, so we were happy to have a spot. We ordered drinks first, our server was fantastic! We then ordered our meal, I had the Cuban, and my wife had the coconut shrimp. It took a little bit to come out, but I am a very understanding person during these times and I was aware of how busy they were and how short staffed they might be(just like everywhere else is). No problem though because we had time for another drink, which was great! Food came out and my wife's was perfect, but my potatoes and Cuban were warm at best, again, I am a very understanding person and was just going to box it up and have it as a late night snack or lunch the next day. The server came by and asked why I haven't eaten much, I told her and she was shocked. She was astonished that I hadn't tried to say anything to her, she insisted on getting me a new plate. And boy am I glad she did! My new plate was out in less than 10 minutes, with a fresh drink! By far that was one of the best Cubans I have had around here, almost anywhere to be honest! Super juicy pork, aioli with the mustard was spot on, the pickles were fresh and crispy and added a nice freshness to the sandwich! I couldn't ask for anything more! The service was amazing, food was amazing, atmosphere off of the lake is absolutely amazing! Definitely will be going back!!!"

"I must say... this is one of my favorite breweries that I have ever tasted. It is nothing like your traditional beer and its even better (or the best) of the flavor beers. You really taste what you are drinking. I had the pleasure of doing a tour of the location. It was bought on another website and my initial idea was a long tour with a small time to sample. Completely wrong... it was a long sample with a little tour. Could not have been a better and more entertaining experience. Everyone know about Not Your Fathers Root Beer. According to the owner/creator/?co-owner? this stuff was on the market in 2010. I first became a fan of it around 2012 and I am glad it is easily accessible especially around this location. Gotta love Binnys for that! At this location, there was the 20% ABV which is what got me hooked. And let me tell you.. from the tap... this is much better than when I tried it in a growler at a resturation/pub/tavern in the Chicago. Fresh, sweet, nicely balanced... it really does taste like Root Beer with the oomph of having some alcohol. Ive tried imitations and nothing can touch it. its like the saying.. Often imitated, never duplicated and it holds true to this location. I also tried the 10% ABV Root Beer. It tasted a little sweeter than the 20% but without the oomph due to the less alcohol. Still very delicious. Lemon Lime 10%. Some may think of the Mountain Ale that is sold in stores but the retail version is ~5%. This one is 10%. Maybe trying the 20% first might alter my taste buds. However, I wish 10% was the one that was sold in stores. The retail 5% tastes like water downed flat Mountain Dew. The 10% tastes like Mountain Dew with Lemoncello. This was so good, I had to leave with a 64oz growler of it. Vanilla Cream, 7%. Again. The same hold true regarding the retail vs tap version. But this one was a little less different. The vanilla cream had a strong flavor, but the retail was only slighter different and slightly not as good as the tap. Apple Pie. According to the owner, he said to smell it, sip it, and then drink it. If you do that...you can really taste the apple pie and the crust. This one is one of my favorites even in retail form. You taste the apple, the caramel, the buttery crust. Almond Coconut. This was a mind bender. It tastes like eating an Almond Joy. You first taste the chocolate, then out comes the coconut, and finally..the almond to finish it. It there was ever a candy bar liquidized...this is what it would taste like. The magic behind the flavor is just that...magical. French Toast. Not many things can be said about this. It tastes like an actual french toast. You taste the maple syrup and you taste the butter that must be applied to the french toast. Its amazing but its not a drink that you will chug. You savor it as a dessert after dinner. You treat it like an aged bourbon. If you ever get some time, I recommend this location. Its a good place to have a few great drinks. And I was luckily enough to meet the man behind the company. The creator and the brew-master or even the chef. I learned about his history and his passion behind all the flavors and I learned about his dedication to make a flavor into a beer and not just flavored beer."
