"Googled for a breakfast restaurant that had a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich for my husband, and they did not disappoint! The sourdough bread was soft and buttery. The bacon was delicious. My Hawkeye omelet was Everything! 3 egg omelet, FILLED with chicken, bacon and cheese, topped with avocado. The lightly smokey bacon complimented the chicken so well. The Guatemalan Roast coffee was strong, smooth, and balanced. My personal happy note was to find Smuckers Mixed Jelly for my wheat toast!!! Our server Ashley was so friendly and informative. It was good to know that this is a family ran, local chain where the owners' sons and daughter run every location. Their pride is reflective in the atmosphere and the staff. This was our 1st time visiting while on vacation, but it definitely won't be our last before we leave."

"Governor's Restaurant Bakery Bangor: A Disgraceful Experience Marred by Racism I recently visited the Governor's Restaurant Bakery in Bangor, ME, with my 83 year old father and a friend. We were excited to try this local establishment, but our experience was marred by blatant racism. From the moment we entered, we were treated differently than other patrons. The waitress, Becky, was rude and dismissive, refusing to take our order while readily attending to other customers. It was clear that our skin color was the issue, as we were the only non white people in the restaurant. When we brought this to the manager's attention, they offered no explanation or apology for Becky's behavior. Instead, they simply took our order themselves, further highlighting the discriminatory treatment we received. This incident left a sour taste in our mouths and ruined what should have been a pleasant meal. My father, who is elderly and deserves respect, was deeply affected by this experience. I cannot in good conscience recommend Governor's Restaurant Bakery in Bangor to anyone. Their staff's blatant racism and the management's lack of response demonstrate a complete disregard for basic human decency and respect. Response to Owner's comment: Mr. Clay I want to thank you for offering to get in touch with me via email. I truly appreciate your efforts to address the concerns I raised. While I understand your point, about the company's stance against discrimination I need to stress that my visit to your Bangor branch was marred by acts of discrimination. Both my father and I were treated differently because of our race. We were ignored by the waitress, Becky, who served customers without hesitation. This kind of treatment made us feel embarrassed and deeply hurt. I see that you are willing to look into this matter which's a step forward. However I urge you to investigate the conduct of your staff and the overall atmosphere at the Bangor establishment. Its disheartening to hear that you claim no knowledge of incidents since it directly contradicts not my experience but also those shared by other people of color online. I am open, to removing my review after 24 hours if you take this issue seriously and conduct an investigation."

"Always wanted to try this place so we stopped in. There was a slight wait for no reason at all but we were seated after the host was done chatting with his buddy and grabbing his buddies to go order. Very irritating but we forged ahead. We were seated at a table for six when it was only two of us. Not a big deal. We placed our order and it took over an hour plus to get our food. Mind you, it wasn't busy and people who arrived way after us got their food before us. I'm no complainer so we patiently waited. We ordered a patty melt with fries, steak and eggs and two bloody Mary's. We didn't end up eating the food because by the time it got to us, we were ready to go. However, later that night when we ate it, the patty melt and fries were really good. The steak was super tough but everything else that came with the steak was good. Everything had good seasoning and the bloody Mary's were phenomenal! Our waitress was new and rung in our bloody Mary's wrong. She rung in a virgin for me and the Maria for my husband. Not sure where the virgin came from. The bartender quickly corrected it. However, with that mistake, it made me think she forgot to ring in the food and that's why it took eternity to get. She offered us a fruit bowl to hold us over. All in all, not the best experience and I doubt we'd return. However, the food was really good."

"Came here for lunch on a Saturday. We had reservations for 1pm but got there half hour early. They were able to seat us within about 10 minutes which was nice. This was our first time here. We were seated in the back room which we were happy to see since we did not see it when we walked in. We both had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and it was unique and good. There was a tasty sauce that came with it plus fries and a pickle that was very good. Our server was friendly. We now want to come back to try the breakfast."

"meet meat in the meeting street. since the 80s we are here, and it remains one of the best sandwich spots in providence with very favorable trips for high quality food. the sandwiches are huge and enveloped with meat, so they get a half, unless they want to share it or take it home. delicious desserts are also gigantic and beat everything they can get at one of the overrated cupcake extravaganzas. would be great if they finally expanded and went into the city."

"Food was ok. Service was good. However, when I got check I noticed I was charged two sales tax. I was taxed 10% on total food cost and another 20% on that total. When I asked why I was being taxed twice I was informed 20% tax was for gratuity. I’m pretty sure State law states any fees and surcharges must be clearly listed before customers dine in or order to go and must be listed as gratuity or service fee on customer bill. Not sure why gratuity was listed as a second sales tax on bill and why this automatic gratuity policy wasn’t displayed anywhere or why we weren’t informed of added gratuity when check was provided to us? My advice check your bill to check if tip has already been included with total."

"We chose Johnny Pamcakes as we were on our way to the airport and needed to have a meal before we arrived at the airport. I googled restaurants near the airport and this lovely place popped up with excellent reviews. We decided to take a chance. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by very friendly wait-staff. The restaurant is very bright, airy and spacious. We arrived around 4pm so it wasn't very crowded. There were couples and families of all ages dining. Kayla our server greeting us warmly. We decided to have wraps. Hubs chose the taco wrap and I chose the chicken Caesar wrap. The wrap was possibly a spinach wrap?? Not certain, but the wrap itself had a very delicious flavor. It does come with a side, but hubs opted out of the sides and I had the potato salad which was very good. Both wraps were very tasty and fresh! Prices were reasonable! What I observed as we were waiting for our meal was that the servers were all very happy people! They were all willing to please and appeared to truly like their jobs! We were really impressed with the happy, friendly environment in which they work. We won't be coming back to the area, but we considered it a great way to end our trip up north. Kudos to the owners for having such a lovely restaurant. We highly recommend it!"

"This restaurant is a typical pancake diner, but the food is delicious. My family visited here over 10 years ago and the quality and taste of the food has remained consistent. The prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this place, especially for families. We ordered waffles with strawberries, pancakes, grits, bacon, smoked sausage, toast, and potatoes. Everything was delicious. The grits could have used a little more salt, but they were still enjoyable. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. I would give this place a 10/10 rating."

"So I wanted to like this place but I have to say there are much better options than what we had today . The breakfast most of us had was on par with most places around but the low score and the I won’t be back came from my daughters stuffed French toast. They literally took a slice of French toast , added a slice of cream cheese put another slice on top and added frozen strawberries to it . Are we that lazy to just add a slice of cream cheese and frozen strawberries ?"

"I visited The Great American Diner over Halloween weekend, and the decorations truly enhanced the entire experience. They even brought us a black candle, which was a nice touch. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and caring, even though she was nearing the end of her shift. I tried the pizza, and while it wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had, it was good for a diner. The onion rings were hot and delicious! The menu is impressively diverse—you can order anything from butter chicken to spaghetti and meatballs, which I highly recommend. The service is excellent, and the staff are genuinely kind and welcoming. The atmosphere is lively and fun. Overall, the food is tasty, and there’s something for everyone. I definitely recommend this place."

"Waitress took 15 minutes to even acknowledge the line of people waiting at the entrance to be seated. Once seated the waitress did not introduce herself or apologize for the long wait. Upon ordering my spouse had a question about the price listed for steak meal. The waitress apologized we were giving the wrong menu’s. So, please ask for a newer menu. (They are the ones with the plastic sleeve. We also had to ask for a glass of water, which was never refilled. When food arrive it was was warm and correct. Our waters were never refilled. We had to find the waitress to ask for our check."

"From Grub Hug on line menu Classic Cubano Sandwich, $9.50 Roasted pork, smoked ham, pickles, Dijon mustard and Swiss cheese on a grilled roll. Served with choice of 1 side dish. I added the above to show how much things have changed. But this add was pulled from Grub Hub today 7/4/2023. First time here in Years! I was early for a performance the Marsh and had time to kill and was hungry. When I arrived 3:15 if took me a minute to get anyone 's attention. No one was in the restaurant and 5 staff were all sitting in a booth and the music was really loud. I finally got my server Carlo 's attention. At first, it appeared he couldn 't be bothered. Thankfully he warmed off after a bit. I had the Cubano sandwich $18.00 (far cry from the Grub Hub price) and sadly not really worth it. Pretty tasteless. Bread not toasted, it was on a sliced french roll, ham was sandwich meat , 1 slice of Swiss cheese and not fresh pickles. Said it came with french fries, well they were breakfast potatoes. Plentiful in size, though. I also ordered a coke which the Menu said was a Mexican Coke. I won 't be suckered into that again ! Scuse me $5.00 and the photo will show it wasn 't a Mexican coke but a regular Cocoa Cola from Cocoa Cola in a glass bottle. Had the manager been there I would have requested a refund for false advertising. What I thought would be a cheap lunch was $25. Maybe the manager will reach out to rectify the overcharge for the Non Mexican coke. Pretty pathetic to make a buck....."

"Amazing place to eat!! The building is well kept, clean, and love the lighting with all the windows. The food is superb!! The pancakes were super fluffy, no running in the scrambled eggs, the ham was cooked to perfection, and I don't have one bad thing to say about it!! Oh, and the hot chocolate was super delicious! The waitress we had was really friendly, helpful, and polite!! Two thumbs way up!"

"A quaint diner, but incredibly slow. We sat ourselves to an available booth. It was not busy with a few (about 8-10) people, the two waitresses were standing behind the counter doing nothing but chatting with each other and it took about 5 minutes for the teenage waitress to give a menus and ask if we wanted coffee. I got coffee and my partner got hot tea. We gave our order (I got eggs, sausage and pancakes and my partner got corned beef hash omelette). It took a while for the waitress to write down the order as she did so in longhand. Obviously not taught how to write quickly or use shorthand or abbreviations. While waiting I asked for a coffee refill. The waitress went on to do other things and forgot. I had to ask again. While we waited we couldn’t help but notice the two teenaged waitresses basically stood around and did nothing. When they did anything there was as no sense of urgency or hustle at all. About 30 to 45 minutes after we place our order my pancakes arrived. A couple minutes later my partner’s omelette arrived. Then, a few minutes after that my eggs/sausage arrived. My partner’s tea had gotten cold. My eggs, sausage and pancakes were okay. But, my partner’s omelette was bland and no taste in the corned beef hash. The coffee was okay. There was about a 20% upcharge due to Covid (which was posted on a handwritten notice on the wall). So, $40 and 90 minutes later we left. Not horrible, but not good either. You could tell the wait staff wanted to be anywhere but there and the kitchen placed a higher priority to DoorDash and To Go orders than those inside the diner. It was our first time there and we doubt we will return."

"Twenty years ago, I loved this place, and the quality has remained unchanged! I sincerely hope they never go out of business. I've always been impressed by their consistently excellent service. If you haven't been here yet, you're seriously missing out on one of the best and most beautifully established spots around. I enjoyed three different meals here just last month—they were all fantastic! If I could, I would come here every day without hesitation. I took my friend and my son there, and since neither of them had been before, they have since returned multiple times. That’s how good it is! I've never had a bad experience. For those who follow me, you know that never having a negative experience is a sign of high-quality ingredients and great preparation! So, I say, go there now! The blackberry crepes combo with eggs, hash browns, and bacon is my go-to order—it's absolutely delicious, and I can't get enough of it!"
