"The end of an era in the San Fernando Valley. The Great Wall has been one of my favorite places to eat since the 1980's for it's classic Mandarin food and beautiful interior decor. Now there are new owners. Old, familiar faces are gone. I really miss the old staff who were there when I was 18 and who for over 30 years had aged gracefully along with me. They lent a sense of permanence that was unique and very special. Quality of food is still excellent but things have changed. No lunch specials on Saturday, no free candied apple. I had a wonderful spicy-red seafood soup here today. Back in the day the tea-smoked duck was one of the best things you could possibly get here in the Valley. I am hopeful they can keep the same high standards, but some of the Chinese vibe I cherished maybe gone forever."
