"Not a big deal, so my dad called the restaurant to let them know (I was listening in on this call as well). However, the employee was extremely rude and asked if he wanted to place another order, and then my dad got hung up on twice. I decided to call myself and also experienced the same issue—getting hung up on twice while trying to explain what happened. When my dad tried to call back, they wouldn’t answer. I really don’t like this place because the staff has consistently been very rude every time I’ve visited. Once, I was told to seat myself, only to be told to move because the table I chose wasn’t available. I’m not an employee, so how was I supposed to know? Although I don’t eat here, my parents have gone often and likely won’t be returning after this incident. 1. The management needs to check in on their staff because the customer service is terrible. 2. There are much better ways to handle a situation when a customer calls to report an incorrect order than hanging up on them. I did ask to speak with a manager, but the woman just hung up on me as well."

"I rate this restaurant two stars because the Margaritas are tasty and fairly priced, and the atmosphere is pleasant. However, I couldn't give it a higher rating because I ordered the carnitas and specifically asked for them to be extra crispy, which means I wanted them to be seared on the skillet for a nice crispy exterior. Unfortunately, when my food arrived, it was not crispy at all and didn't look very appetizing. I regularly order this dish at other places and it's always excellent. I didn’t dwell on it too much, though."

"I went with my son Daughter to El Sombrero after not going for at least 10 years.. we use to go all the time but I noticed it was not kept up so I stopped going plus the previous owner never acknowledged us and we were regulars for many many years. My son was back in town for a bit and he wanted to go there. I was very skeptical because of past experiences with the old owner.. I had no idea it was under new ownership for like 6 years now. Boy the restraunt was spotless from the restrooms to the restraunt. Remodeled beautifully.The new owner used to be a employee who worked for El Sombrero for 17 years and then bought the place! Wow. That is soooo awesome!! Let me tell you the recipe never changed. I will definitely going back again again. The owner is a very friendly and welcoming guy. The food is Excellent. New carpet.All remodeled. I didn't even have to open the menu. I knew exactly what I wanted. The grand burrito. Wow tasted just the same...Don't hesitate. Go to El Sombrero for they best Mexican food ever!!!!"

"Once we received our meals, the same server returned to provide refills, while our original waitress appeared to be wandering around aimlessly as the evening slowed down. Sadly, the food did not meet our expectations. I ordered the Combination #1, which included one beef taco and two beef enchiladas served with beans and rice. The enchiladas were served with hard, stale tortillas that made them difficult to eat, although the beans and rice were decent. The beef was overly greasy and had the taste of meat that had been sitting out for too long. The taco, however, was good. The rest of my family felt similarly underwhelmed by their meals, and while we tried to make the best of our evening, we left feeling unsatisfied and somewhat frustrated. Some in our party had dined here before and had better experiences, but this was my first visit, and it certainly did not impress me. I would recommend looking for dining options elsewhere in the future."

"Loved everything about this place. Food was tasty, plentiful, and inexpensive. It was served sizzling hot within five minutes of ordering. Service was excellent (we ate in the bar area but not actually at the bar). Best of all draft beer served in a very frosted mug! Wish we lived closer."

"This Foster's Freeze is just like any other Foster's Freeze in appearance, however that is where the similarities ended for us. The very first annoyance was that person taking the orders could not hear/understand what was being said by us. However the person manning the grill five feet away could understand/hear just fine. Second. The person at the grill (possibly the manager) and the order taker start an agreement. The grill man shouting orders and the other saying, yeah, yeah, yeah. Third. The grill guy chews out a customer for using the hand cleaner. The grill guy saying that he reach around the plexiglass. Well I didn't see the event but no excuse to chew out the customer. Fourth and final. The burgers were greasy and unappealing. Picture attached. I am having a queasy stomach as I write this."

"The only reason I give a 4/5 is simply because the chips and salsa were not willing to vote for me. The chips tasted day old and the salsa didn't have much kick. Other than that, the rest of the food was absolutely amazing; 10/10 burrito. They were also ready to subdue the meat on the Burrito, whatever is something I was looking for in a restaurant."

"Best Mexican food I’ve ever had!!! I’m from Virginia and over the years I thought I just wasn’t a huge fan of “Mexican food” because it seems to taste the same no matter where you go. But El Sombrero is by far the best I’ve ever had. The queso (when you can get it) is AMAZING! Has the perfect amount of cheesy and spicy flavor without being a regular dull plain white queso. I got the steak fajita burrito and it is sooooooo delicious. The portion sizes are also huge!! So be prepared to wear loose pants or take home leftovers! Would give 6 stars if I could. Would go back to Rapid City just for this restaurant"

"That's an incredible inviting place! The staff was incredibly helpful and sweet. Great interior delicious food drinks. My friend and I came closed like their kitchen (8:30 ), because their Yelp hours said they were open until 10. They offered us a table, offered us Quesadillas, Chips, Guac, Salsas drinks. I am the kind of person who would never go to a place as they close, but snowstorm, yelp hours everything else closed led me to stay after their kitchen was closed. "We have visited a couple times now and have had 2 really great experiences. The server was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. There were deals on tacos, flautas, and enchiladas and all were good and well worth the price. Added bonus, the beer was ice cold. First visit was a Friday and we had a bit of a wait, maybe 15 minutes and the second was on a Monday, no wait. Nice size booths and if you like the bar looked pretty welcoming too!"

"The building finally found its niche. It changed hands several times until the current owner made it work. The restaurant has daily specials that are fast but really good. The nacho special on Friday is a great option for 2 people who are slightly lean on funds. A big nacho with basic toppings for $8.00 plus it's real food and not a burger? Not too bad! The restaurant itself is pretty basic and a throwback to the older Detroit restaurants on Bagley. Inside are old saddles and even a really old piece of great Americana history on one wall which the owners have no idea about! Overall, the environment is basic, relaxed, and clean. It really has the charm of a small family owned Taqueria. I gave it four outta five stars only because the food is always hot, fresh, and delicious but sometimes the dinners could be a little meatier, if meatier makes sense? However, that's an issue in many places and I assume it's a problem with cooks more than the establishment. Besides, 5 stars says perfection and I can't wait to say any place was perfect so 4 outta 5 is pretty good for a little place.Finally, we eat there often enough but tend to use the carry-out menu at least once or twice a month. The staff is really nice and always strive to ensure our orders are perfect."

"I never been to this location before, stopped here on my work day. Surprised they had a drive thru, I haven't seen one for this establishment, food was good, ordered the double patty burger, it has a sauce that was kinda sweet almost like a thousand island sauce, pickles didn't seem right on this Burger, or the pickles put on it didnt match taste, fries were good, crinkle cut, hot and crunchy, unfortunately the lemonade did have a soot taste to it, maybe faucet water or unfiltered water, all in all, it was good, however the price was pretty tasty...at $16 , I could've done better. But , know you know."

"The Chicken Crispy Taco was crispy on one side and not on the other, but that didn’t bother me too much. Honestly, I expected it to be completely soggy by the time it arrived, so I was pleasantly surprised that half of it was still crunchy! However, the taco shell reminded me of the kind you buy in a box at the grocery store. On the other hand, the chicken enchilada was really delicious. I asked for green sauce, but it came with red sauce, so I’m guessing they didn’t have green sauce for enchiladas. That struck me as a bit strange, considering that most Mexican restaurants typically offer green sauce. The Super Breakfast Burrito was great, but it could use a lot more chorizo to make it truly amazing. I can’t comment on the Chicken Super Burrito with Everything since I haven’t tried it yet. I ordered two sides of beans, expecting whole pinto beans, but instead received refried beans. Despite these little quirks, we really enjoy this place; it’s definitely one of our top five Mexican restaurants for late-night cravings."

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We've been searching for a decent tostado for quite some time, and California Burrito really delivered. I anticipated receiving just two small tostados (one beef and one chicken as a little experiment), but I was pleasantly surprised by the generous serving. They came loaded with toppings, and while the bell peppers were a bit unusual, I actually enjoyed them. The amount of meat was impressive—shredded beef (YUM!) instead of ground beef. Both the chicken and beef were well-seasoned without being too spicy. We were provided with forks, plenty of napkins, and two types of salsa (red and green), all of which were delicious. I can't wait to try more items from the menu, especially now that they’ve opened a location closer to our home!"
