"One of our go to Japanese restaurants on the Upper West Side. I usually have sashimi, but this time I had a light meal mushroom soup and avocado salad. Both were spectacular. One of the nice things about the place is that the noise level at dinner is tolerable. If you are on the Upper West Side, try it out you won;t be disappointed."

"I dropped by Bay Sushi around 5pm on a Wednesday. The place wasn't busy at all, but the to-go orders were popping off. All I really wanted was izakaya, so I checked on their menu to see if they have a few of my favorites. I saw that they had my favorites and decided to give the place a try.I got agedashi tofu, soft shell crab, and saba nigiri. The agedashi tofu and soft shell crab were hits. Both were nicely fried. I loved the piled on bonito flakes on the tofu. Interestingly the soft shell crab came out with a side of sweet and sour sauce, which was different than I'm used to. I typically have it with some type of tempura sauce, but the sweet and sour sauce was a nice change. The saba was alright, and I thought the texture was off. It almost tasted slightly cooked rather than raw. As for how the cooked food goes, I would likely stick to those for next time.Lastly, customer service was excellent. I was only one of two parties in the restaurant, but hey, the service was so fast. My server was also the sweetest lady!"

"First off, this is one of the Best Sushi experiences that I have had. The Omakase option is a must try. The artfulness, creativity and choice ingredients are extremely satisfying. Each piece is made with so much care and leaves you in a state of almost meditation, as you take in the experience. Chef Evan Lin is also one of the most personable people I have ever had serve me in that capacity. He is genuine and really takes his time to make sure you are having an experience worthy of praise. The vibe is very chill and low key making for a more intimate experience."

"Great price for all you can eat with plenty of options! They also have plenty of non-sushi meals from the kitchen on the all you can eat menu, not just appetizers like some other AYCE places around. The servers were on top of taking empty plates, refilling water, taking our menu selections quickly. Seating is available at the sushi bar, regular tables and chairs, or wooden booths in the back. I am giving 4 stars because the sushi is good, but not the best you will find on Long Island.I had the Haru Maki and Miso Soup to start, both were good... the soup could use more toppings but I enjoyed the broth. My friend had a Kani Salad some Tempura Sweet Potato, she loved both of them. We ordered 2 rolls each to share. I ordered the Fried Island Roll the Mango Hawaii Roll, my friend had the Yankee Roll Captain Roll. I liked all of them except for the Yankee, but I don't like cream cheese in sushi.We got a 2nd round which was another Mango Hawaii, Sex on the Beach, and Phoenix, all of which i loved. My favorite for the night was the Sex on the Beach roll. The fish was fresh, my friend who usually orders vegetable or California rolls actually enjoyed the raw salmon tuna! The only disappointment for me was that they ran out of green tea ice cream becore we had a chance to order desert, but i was so full I didn't really need it.My friend almost didn't want to go because we could not find the AYCE menu online, so I took pictures so others don't have the same problem."

"Very sad to see what was a wonderful dinning establishment go down. They serve under cooked food and even when brought to the managers attention they dismissed it. The cook was upset we had something to say then in return he threw hot food from the grill onto my 6 year old. Took over 30 mins just to get someone to our grill where we sat and they were not busy at all!.. asked for water refills more then 4xs and never got a refill. I would of given them a 5 star not even a few months back now I wish there was a less the 1.. Only 1/2 the staff are masked and this used to be a wonderful place to be. Not sure of the changes being made but deff not worth eating or dinning here."

"First and only time visiting and I didn 't feel welcome. Female attendant looked me up and down when I came in to get my phone order. She snapped my total at me, I handed her cash, and when she handed me back the change, as it passed out of her hands, she made a dismissive pushing motion with her hands (like shooing something away) and said Here! I was in shock. So to make sure I understood, I asked What did you say? and she did the same thing again... Here, here! ' (w/Shoo.. shoo hands). I just shook my head and left. That was very rude etiquette for handling a simple customer takeout interaction. I hoped I 'd found a new sushi place, but I will never return. The sushi (two regular rolls) were small and tasted bland. But most of all, the female attendant made it clear she didn 't appreciate my business."

"My husband and I wanted hibachi. We were willing to wait so we wouldn 't be the only ones at the table, but they sat us there alone....BORING! There was no show from the chef although he was very nice. My first issue was that yumyum sauce is cooked into everything, the protein, veggies and rice. I have NEVER seen that done and I don 't appreciate everything on my plate tasting the same, although I do like yumyum on the side. My husband and I had taken a couple of bites and packed the rest to go and the bill was paid with a generous 22% tip. I was still finishing my wine, so we were sitting there. Mind you, we had only taken about 10 minutes to eat. I had half my wine left when a waitress asked us to go sit in the main dining room if we wanted to talk and finish my wine. I have NEVER been asked to leave a table because people were waiting. We were not hanging out killing time or talking, I was just finishing my wine. We actually could have still been eating, so what would they have done then? I was thinking as we were eating that I would come back and try the main dining room, but have changed my mind. Why would I return to a place that does not value their customers. We should have been allowed the few minutes it would have taken to finish what we paid for without having to leave the table. That was a completely rude move on their part. PS: I got the lobster and there were a few bites that still had shell on."

"The owner of the restaurant frequently prepares the sushi himself. It's one of the finest local sushi spots around. While it isn't an extravagant establishment, the freshness of the sushi, attentive service, and reasonable prices make it an excellent dining option. I wouldn't suggest that someone travel out of their way to visit, but if you're a local craving sushi, this place is definitely worth it."

"Accommodating service but the food- none of it was particularly good. Steak wasn’t the greatest cut or quality. Chicken was flavorful enough so perhaps that’s the star of the show. Tempura wasn’t comparable quality to other places in and around NyC at a similar price point. Ginger salad was decent, fried rice was mediocre. Unfortunately nothing impressed enough to have me want to come back but that’s as a non sushi eater so I leave 4 stars because this place seems highly rated by those who enjoy sushi and I don’t want to significantly impact their rating for something outside of their namesake."

"HORRIBLE. Went here for a last minute dinner on New Year’s Day. Worst dine in experience of my life. The staff made us both so uncomfortable. The moment we sat down the waitress tossed our menus on the table. We were being rushed and the waitress stood there and stared while we were deciding what to eat. Everyone seemed rather unfriendly and it was very obvious that none of the staff wanted to be there. I also really expected the food to be better for how much it costed. My California roll was $12 for 6 pieces and had a fishy taste. Shrimp tempura roll was literally just fried shrimp wrapped in rice, no cucumber or anything. A glass of lemonade was $9 and tasted like sugar and water, plus was mostly filled with ice. Overall super disappointing and will not be coming back here. Save your money and get ShopRite sushi."
