"Going there is like a trip back in time. The ambiance is very pleasant, because the hosts are attentive and go out of their way to be nice and friendly.I thoroughly liked the Philly cheese steak with fries. I wish I enjoyed this place as much as other reviewers. However, both the decaf coffee and the cheddar broccoli omelet had an actually bad (foul) taste that lingered for more than half an hour afterward, until having coffee elsewhere. This is as surprising as it is hard to explain, since I have very rarely had ill-tasting food in the US. In fact, my only comparable experience was at a(n equally old) Chicago diner named Daley's, at Cottage Grove and 63rd. Maybe old-fashioned diners use some specific, peculiarly-tasting ingredients?Unfortunately, whatever it is ruined it for me."
