"We were part of a large group of nearly 30 people, but not everyone ordered at once. Upon arriving, we started rearranging patio tables to sit together. Unfortunately, the tables and chairs were all sticky and there was no way to clean them. To be fair, the kids in our party had popsicles, which made the mess worse, but the tables were already dirty when we arrived.
My husband ordered us the pulled pork with gallo pinto and maduro. When he handed me my plate, it felt like it weighed about 2 pounds—an extremely generous portion! The first bite was really tasty, but with each subsequent bite, it just got saltier. By the third bite, I couldn’t taste anything but salt. I managed to eat a bit more of the gallo pinto, but unfortunately, it was salty too. I finished the maduro but ended up bringing the rest home, hoping to mix it with some potatoes to balance out the saltiness. Overall, I was disappointed.
I genuinely enjoy this style of food and was especially looking forward to it in a local establishment, so I didn't expect my meal to be overly salty. On a positive note, everyone else in our group who ordered different dishes—like chicken, goat, and vegetarian options—seemed very pleased with their meals. After we finished eating, we helped the staff put the tables and chairs back in place."
