"The ambiance is definitely classy and upscale so I expect so much more from this restaurant. Customer service was a bit lacking. The waiter seems like he was new and was forgetting to ask basic things like asking how I wanted my steak cooked before walking off. It was a very weird vibe that I couldn't put my finger on. The food was mediocre. The Petite filet was dry, over cooked and under seasoned. The cognac sauce and potatoes it came with were a delicious though. The Risotto faired a bit better and was actually very tasty with the scallops and shrimp. The NY strip was seasoned well and had the best potatoes of all 3 steak dishes. The shrimp cocktail was good as well and the cocktail sauce seemed freshly made. The salmon roll had no structural integrity. It presented well but basically crumbled as soon as it was picked up. It also sat for a bit and had gotten warm. But now to the wonderfully presented Heaven's Sakura, a $17 drink. The drink's presentation is gorgeous and you just know it's gonna be amazing...yea no. This drink either needs to be taken back to the drawing board or removed from the menu forever. This drink was DISGUSTING and was only finished because it was $17. It tasted like a drink you would mix as a kid on a dare. The crunch bar was the only thing on the menu I truly enjoyed it was delicious! I don't think I will be coming back since first impressions are everything and Gerrard's didn't pass the vibe check."

"Thanksgiving Day dinner review... This is the McCormick Schmick's in downtown Chicago, across from the Trump tower. If using CTA, take the Lake St. exit. Very classy, real linen napkins and real linens on the table, black-liveried waiters. The Shrimp Kisses appetizer was delicious, 4 large bacon wrapped shrimp with pepper jack cheese. 5 stars, at least. The side salad was beautiful, but kind of boring, nothing but arugula and similar greens, no tomatoes or other vegetables. Didn't take long to eat, lol. My companion had the butternut squash soup, which was only a small cup, but said it was delicious. The restaurant will bring you some delicious hot bread with butter, but apparently you have to ask. We had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which was a few slices of turkey, a scoop of dressing, a large scoop of mashed potatoes and a scoop of something else hot I couldn't really identify but was really good, along with some wonderful green beans. It's not as much as you would probably eat at a family Thanksgiving dinner, but it was ample and quite good, a solid four stars. The slice of turkey dark meat that I got was really tough and not very tasty. I ate a little of it and left the tough parts on my plate. My companion, I note, gave up on his slice of dark meat, also. The dinner was $32, not including the excellent slice of pumpkin pie we had and not including the shrimp appetizer, which I thought was a fabulous bargain. A lot of tony restaurants in Chicago were charging $75-135 for their TG dinners, and I'm sure they were good, but still..."

"Had reservations for Valentine’s Day and when we got there it was a line around the corner which resulted in us being 15 minutes late. When we reached the podium to check in the lady was very very overwhelmed/flustered and asked a few times for the reservation name because she was so focused on other things like seating. I found my name on the paper reservation sheet and she called a hostess to seat us. Once seated it took about 15 minutes for someone to come give us water and asked for our drink order. We asked if they had a wine/cocktail menu and the young lady said “oh myyyy she didn’t give you a drink menu, I’ll get one for you all” and walked away so fast that I couldn’t just tell her what I wanted. 7 minutes later she brings the wine/cocktail menu and says she has another table and she will be RIGHT BACK which was ANOTHER 5 mins. Needless to say 30 minutes total we FINALLY had a bottle of wine to accompany the water. As for dinner hmmmm....we ordered the calamari that was EXTREMELY salty and couldn’t eat. Then there were rolls bought to the table w/ butter but the rolls tasted as if they came out of the freezer. For an Italian restaurant I found that strange. Then for dinner I ordered the Ribeye and mashed potatoes and my date had the Miso salmon. The ribeye had no taste at all but the mushrooms that accompanied it were THE BEST. Not sure how they sautéed the mushrooms so well with seasoning but not the steak. The mashed potatoes were very stiff and dry. The miso salmon was very moist and good but the broccolini was flavorless. For dessert we had the creme brûlée and it was good. Overall stay was about 2.25 hours for everything Don’t think we will be returning even though I have a 10% off coupon from Yelp since I’m an ELITE Yelper."
