"The service was excellent. A rose on the table was a nice touch. Seating was a bit of an issue with most women sitting on a pillowed bench that was far too low compared to the table height. We were encouraged to sit on pillows to accomodate. Our placement in the restaurant was less than ideal as we faced the kitchen entrance on one side and a Bar TV on the other; not very elegant for a $400+ Valentine’s Day dinner. The appetizers were good over all. We ordered the scallops and the branzino for dinner. The options on the prix fixe menu were plentiful but there were a few little misses. The branzino was very good, but the spinach base was over salted so much it almost ruined the meal. Additionally, they left off my vegetables on my scallop plate, but rushed to fix it. The dessert was satisfying with a lemon tiramisu and a chocolate cake option. Overall, I was looking for an exceptional experience and not a great value. They delivered a B+."

"Have eaten here several times. Was surprised that with a reservation we were still sitting at a booth looking into the kitchen. We could have asked to be moved, but we didn't want to. The waiter was very enthusiastic, but failed to fill glasses of water without being asked. My husband's lasagna was a huge brick in the middle of an unadorned plate. A little salad or something green and crispy would have been nice. Not an à la carte fan, especially when it comes to the price of the main course alone. The room was very dark and a bit noisy. I would ask not to sit in this area another time."

"Osteria Romantica, their staff, his owner, the food, and the chef make the perfect combination to have a nice dinner after a hat week of work, they will always greet you and make you feel great! It is the best Italian restaurant in La Jolla!"

"This is one of our favorite places to go to and we usually try to take new couple there as much as possible to introduce them to the environment. The staff and ownership are incredible as well as the food. We are usually lucky enough to get our favorite server Giuseppe but if you don't get him as yours, the rest are excellent and personable. Highly recommend!!!!"

"Such a charming hidden gem! It's a cute little old house converted into a lovely little Italian restaurant. The staff is incredible...so so charming and welcoming. I felt like I was visiting family and they were taking such good care of me and spoiling me with life-changing food. Everything was so fresh and so on point! Great spot for a date night! I ordered the Ravioli Innamorati and my word....so heavenly! I definitely had a moment with my food here! I am going to share this with family and friends when they visit and my goal is to try nearly everything on the menu! Absolutely wonderful!"

"We have dined here numerous times since I moved into the area over 20 years ago. we have always found the food to be outstanding. The restaurant can be slightly crowded and noisy. My main complaint with the restaurant is the service. We have frequently found the service to be sub par. The waiters have most of the time been friendly but not very attentive to our needs.it is a major problem if our waiter is also serving a large party.The time before we were at the restaurant the waiter kept apologizing for ignoring us. We can make a request but it sometimes doesn't get addressed until we ask again.We ate there two nights ago and the food was outstanding. I ordered the branzino and my wife ordered the swordfish off of the specials list. Both dishes were very fresh and well prepared. We had to call the bus(lady) over to ask for more bread. She acknowledged but took the bread plates away! The appetizers came out pretty quickly, but the entrees took a very long time. Generally I would appreciate if the waiter would come over to give us an update. It didn't happen. After we finished it took a long time for the waiter to come to our table to ask if we wanted desserts. Overall it was a good experience and we would definitely return despite the service."
