"Flowers of Vietnam is a stop I always incorporate into my trips to Detroit. I have even planned to drive 4.5 hours from Chicago specifically to eat here. As a person of Vietnamese descent, I really appreciate the thoughtful touches FOV puts on familiar, comforting Vietnamese dishes I know intimately through family dinners. There is light modernizing of these dishes. Full disclosure, I don 't typically feel drawn to these types of adjustments, but the folks here do it in a really respectful, mindful way that yields delightful results.The hospitality sets the standard. The entire staff is warm and accommodating from hostess to owner, the music fits with the vibe of the space, and the decor is impeccable (love the lights in the bathroom). Every detail has been gone over with a fine-tooth comb.I recommend all of the dishes. There isn 't a single item I 've had that didn 't make me smile and rejoice.When I was a chef, I fantasized about having a restaurant like this, and I am so happy to see it come to life through someone else 's vision."
