"An important and stellar addition to Indian dining in NYC, even more so in the UWS. In a nutshell: this was my top 3 Indian meal in NYC, after considering Tamarind, Junoon, Devi, Bukhara Grill, Tulsi and the usual long tail. Gaurav 's curated menu is different from anything else you will have had in the name of staid 'north Indian ' fare. And he betters this with remarkable execution notably the silken 'Galouti kabab ', the smoky 'Lobster masala ', and the 'Nihari lamb ' which is an artful balance of flavor without reducing to being just a cream drenched gravy dish. Even the commodity 'Dal makhani ' is notably different from its peers elsewhere. Wait staff and service get top scores, especially for a restaurant still in its infancy. Perhaps a reflection of Gaurav 's reputation of passionate, customer focused execution. Decor and ambience are excellent for informal, and adequate for very formal needs build quality is more a Bukhara Grill than a Tamarind, to be clear. Go there as soon as your legs can carry you. And leave that gym membership card at home!"
