"The food was overly salty. Their take on a fajita resembled more of a cheeseburger, as it was buried under an excessive amount of cheese, which is not typical for fajitas. The tortilla soup was decent, but the enchiladas were very salty, and I ended up leaving half of my meal behind. I have no urge to return."

"Great location, vegetarian and vegan friendly. Professional and courteous staff, reasonably short time between ordering and food to table. Yet everything was fresh and made to order. Pictured are Falafel salad and garden vegetable pizza. Both absolutely delicious. Not pictured is the hummus/veggie pita appetizer. Homemade hummus, beautiful. Very relaxed atmosphere, local art hung everywhere. We went at lunch on a Sunday, but must’ve been after rush; we were seated promptly. Very clean bathrooms."

"We had reservations and were seated promptly at this restaurant. We tried the salmon cakes and loaded tomato pie, both of which were very good. The hummingbird cake was more like a fruit bread and was delicious. The prices are on the higher side, typical of a resort town. We recommend making reservations several days in advance. Additionally, they had a singer performing during our visit."

"Great place to eat. Handhelds (pulled lamb for me, chicken breast for wife) were great but fries (not really, thicker cut potatoes) were neither crisp nor hot). Left them. Wine selection was good but service was erratic, sometimes server there too much, other times couldn’t find him. Getting glass of wine was very lengthy process. The restaurant was half empty so the time between ordering and receiving wine should have been much shorter"

"We had a great lunch at Wa Jeal. Starting with spring onion pancakes (delicious) and ending with chicken and broccoli (again delicious), the lunch (rice, main course and soup) was very cheap and delicious. The environment is wonderful - brick walls and pretty decorations and the service excellent. Highly recommended!!"

"The food was incredible! The lamb was leaner than I expected, and I thought it might be tough, but it turned out to be wonderfully tender and full of flavor. I highly recommend the hachapuri; it was absolutely worth the wait! The dips on the appetizer sampler were all delicious, and their pita was great too. Overall, it's a fantastic place! I will definitely be returning!"

"Ordered 3 dozen crabs and realized when i got home that they weren’t freshly steamed. As well as most of them were light and empty and the meat inside was mushy. Not sure if they were steamed in too much water or what. When i called she accused me of being late for pickup. When in actuality i had to wait for the crabs to get ready once i got there. She said “crabs get cold fast”. In my 20 years of eating crabs, i have never had 3 dozen of crabs get cold within 20 mins. She also mentioned that they have no control over how heavy or light the crabs are. But im sure the store has some control over who their crab-men is. Will not be going back!"

"Years ago I lived a block from the Lakeview Uncommon Ground. Now that my son is a student at Loyola Chicago, I was pleasantly surprised to find an UG location in Edgewater near his campus. Had an absolutely wonderful lunch today and the service was perfect. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was substantial and delicious. The mushroom bisque and salad combo was delicious also. Looking forward to ordering this meal again soon. My son had the lemon blueberry pancakes special and a side of potatoes. A year old could not finish his meal, which gives you an idea of the generous without being over the top wasteful portion (mom took extras home),"

"Love this place. Everything about it. It's a spacious, old-school restaurant with a litany of menu options. The food is very good and the portions are beyond generous. "Passing though and needed some food, I ordered a burger but was overcooked like a hockey puck and bacon that seemed like it was cooked for the breakfast shift. When I complained and didn’t eat it the server/(owner? said it looked good to him and I paid full price. My other half got the ribeye which was good but for a 30 dollar steak I wasn’t impressed. Probably won’t come back correction they didn’t like the steak either"

"Me and my family (2 adult 2 kids) were traveling from Chicago to Cincinnati and toke a detour just to eat there. Called on our way to book a table and they said it wasn 't necessary but they didn 't told me it was an over 21 policy. No kids allowed. We don 't serve food for kids she said when we arrived. What does it mean?. Our kids eat exactly the same food we eat. Anyways, something as unusual as this has to be notified to the customers. At least if you care calling to book a table. What a waste of time and energy. I was looking forward to trying their food but they just lost a customer for good. It 's a 0/10 for me. Poor customer service."

"I ordered the group basket and was disappointed. The crust was overly baked and there was very little fish, quite different from my previous experiences. I suspect they may have changed suppliers. "Booked an early dinner, wanted to check this place out for a while. Having read some of the reviews, I was a little reluctant, but we were promptly seated. Ordered drinks, the bar was a little slow, but nothing to complain about. My wife ordered the steak salad, which was good. I ordered the prime burger and sweet potato fries and a salad. Burger was really good, two patties cooked to order, they brought fries instead of the sweets, but they corrected the mistake and the sweet potato fries were tasty. Would have been better hot. The salad was fresh with two big strips of bacon. Overall the food, service and ambiance of the restaurant was between fair and good. Might give them another shot, but wouldn't rush back."

"We ate here for the first time last night. We weren?t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by what we ordered. The sautéed veggies is NOT what you would think, it?s more of a stew that paired deliciously with rice and peas. I got it with the fried chicken and thought I?d be getting something ?simple? but instead it was perfectly cooked , very moist and was uniquely seasoned. My husband got the curry chicken rice bowl and ate nearly the whole thing (he?s not a huge eater). We have had curry chicken many times before but the flavors of this one was different. Both plates were very flavorful, as well as their award winning grilled oysters that we had for appetizer. Meals were large portions that we took home to have for lunch today. And for non-alcoholic drinks- I had the hibiscus and my husband the guava. They were both very good, though I added more water to mine (I like my drinks not too sweet and watered down but that?s a personal preference). Both of our servers were very friendly and prompt, but one in particular who was very descriptive with other dishes on the menu-where the oysters and fish came from, how they?re cooked, portions (to share or individual). Sadly we did not catch her name but she is the reason we now want to keep coming back to try everything they have at least once. She even drew characters on our to-go box! We love to eat out and try different foods, but if you?re thinking of going somewhere for lunch or dinner and are wanting something hearty with lots of flavor, this is the place to visit. Oh, don?t forget their plantains. You think you know what you?re getting until you take your first bite!"

"My chicken was literally cold. Unfortunately I had taken it to go and didn't think to verify my FOOD WAS HOT before I left. Didn't want to risk eating it cold either after my friend said he got food poisoning from here once. Used to come here all the time years ago… clearly they have gone down hill… Unless you want food poisoning, don't eat here."
