"I understand that there is a waitstaff shortage but we waited for over an hour for our food even with a reservation. It was not packed in the restaurant. Then the food wasn’t hot! The excuse was that there was a party of 6 that came in after our party of 3. Yet there were others that received their meals before us. I don’t think I will return. The food was mediocre."

"Strawberry Fields is almost my daily stop for a quick and delicious lunch and sometimes meeting with colleagues to brainstorm research ideas. I generally select from the available menu items. But sometimes, they do for me make to order; yesterday I asked them to make Tuna stuffed Avocado with warm ginger tea- awesome! It was so delicious and met my protein intake with an omega-3 fatty acid, Vitamin B, potassium, anti-inflammatory ingredients. Lulu the cook was great in personalizing the order, so were the baristas Fatima, Mandy, and Veronica. I am glad that they treat each customer with a smile and a cheer, with a lot of variety. Good management. Thanks."

"This was my first time visiting J Rucker 's, it was nothing like the negative reviews I 've seen. From what I was told it is under new management. I really enjoyed the service and the food. You would rarely find a restaurant that say they 're Soul Food . The food taste like a Southern Home Cooked meal. Nothing (Macaroni cheese, Sweet Potatoes, Collard Greens, Fried Okra) taste like it was out of a can or bag. Flavor was tasty and portion was just right for its price. Not to forget the smothrred baked chicken rice and Seafood dinner seasoned fried catfish (not smushy or fatty) shrimp. We couldn 't eat it all. Thumbs up to the cooks, bartender, waitress, hostess,and everyone that came to check in on us. It is a nice southern touch venue that is great for an event, party, mini concert, etc. Whatever the y 'all did tonight, keep it up. Enjoyed everything,even the music. Need a live band or performance now"

"I absolutely love this restaurant! Since moving to East Lansing for college, I've really missed my favorite Mediterranean spot back home, so I was thrilled to find a place that serves food just as wonderful. I like to indulge in takeout once a week, and no matter how much I try to change it up, I always end up ordering from here! The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, the food is amazing, and the prices are very reasonable. I've basically tried everything on the menu, but I highly recommend the crushed lentil soup, makhali, veggie or lamb grape leaves, lamb kabob dinner, chicken shawarma dinner, garlic sauce, and their health cocktail raw juice."

"I've visited this restaurant under its current name at four different locations over the past 40 years. First, I went to the original spot on 3rd Ave SE, where I first met John. I've also been to the North location numerous times, and I've dined at the Broadway South location twice. The 18th Ave NW location by Cedarwood was open for only a brief period. Overall, the ribs at all locations are fantastic, and the sauce is outstanding. I find the cole slaw to be a perfect blend as well."

"Been there at least 6 times in the past few months the first few times were great, the last few were not, The fried chicken, fish was cooked perfectly and so delicious, greens and black eyed peas also good. Went back a few more times and Chicken and Fish was so salty couldn't even eat it. Tried again this last time and Fried chicken was so salty it could give you a heart attack my black eyed peas were spoiled, sour tasting and didnt look good but tried them anyway and aweful threw all my food in the garbage. My husbands Pork chops were cooked way too long and couldn't eat them either too hard. Maybe there are new cooks but please get it back how it was."

"It seems like anyone raving about how tasty this food is must be related to the owners. My experience was awful! The turkey meatloaf tasted terrible, the macaroni and cheese was just plain noodles with cheese, and the sweet potatoes were absolutely revolting. This establishment should not be serving or claiming to represent southern cooking in any way! Despite the enticing aroma upon entering, this is definitely not authentic southern cuisine."

"the first time here and I'm glad we made the trip. my man wanted fried chicken from a strange reason because we never had fried food. that is a small family-run restaurant that appeared when I searched google maps and it is a jewel. chewed chicken was one of the specials! it was very good and cooked exactly right. the brot was excellent. if they get a special, they get 3 pages. I had fried okra, mais and cauliflower salat, all were also very good."

"When we entered we wondered what we had done; the place had the look of a 1970s hotel. The tables and decor was lacking. We were met by a polite and friendly staff person who turned out to be our server. He was terrific. Then came the food- we were quite pleasantly surprised. The food was very good! I would go back for a nice meal at a reasonable price."

"The bison Mac and chili was DELICIOUS! What a great combo. Loved the pita on the side as well. I also got the SUPERNOVA Raspberry sour and it was one of the best drinks I've ordered. Great sour with very little after taste. I spent a significant portion of dinner Googleing where to buy a 6-pack!.. : The place is very well kept and great atmosphere. A few things are a bit out of place though. We were sat down on a table with a TV that was hung so low that it would hit us in the head if we went to the left of the table. It was hung on the staircase. It was a bit jarring to have a date with my fiance when there is a giant TV sitting right next to him at our table."

"I recently revisited Big Momma's after quite some time, specifically on July 1, 2022. While it wasn't crowded, I noticed they were preparing many orders, so I anticipated a waiting period. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting nearly 39 minutes for my meal, and when it finally arrived, the chicken was overcooked. It was extremely hard and dry. I had ordered dark meat, but when I got home, I found I only had a wing and a leg. This left me feeling quite hungry and disappointed. I understand that many restaurants are facing staffing shortages and that patience is essential these days, but considering I paid for my meal, I expected better than overcooked food."
