"The customer service was excellent; I really appreciated how attentive our waiter was. He frequently checked in to see if everything was okay, kept our drinks refilled, and demonstrated great manners throughout our meal. He definitely earned a well-deserved tip! As for the food, it was good, and I would likely return. The only downside was the noise level from the music—it felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant. But, given that it’s a Mexican bar-style place, I suppose that's to be expected. Just be prepared for a hefty bill if you’re planning on having a full course meal! Dinner for two came to $84 plus tip, and we didn’t even order any alcoholic drinks. Nevertheless, my husband left satisfied!"

"I recently tried the birria quesadilla at this restaurant, and it was hands down the best quesadilla I have ever had. In fact, it is the best meal I have had in a long time. I am usually very particular about my food, but this dish exceeded all expectations. The beef was of excellent quality and cooked to perfection, resulting in a velvety texture. I appreciated that the cilantro and onions were placed on top of the quesadilla, rather than being stuffed inside, as I have found in other quesadillas. The presentation was lovely, the service was friendly and efficient, and overall, my experience was fantastic. I am thrilled that I discovered this place and cannot wait to return."

"Great cozy space. We were looking for a few apps and drinks. Luckily, happy hour is until closing on Saturday nights. $2 tacos and $1 off tap beer plus $5 well drinks which was pretty small needless to say. But all in all, we were pleasantly surprised. "Poor Experience Overall. 3 people $300. I understand the Event scenario for Christmas Boat Parade. But , I genuinely feel the the Brigantine Corporation is Gouging for a low end Mexican styled meal at Miguel's. Here's the breakdown, we ordered 3 appetizers, 3 Main Course meals, 6 beverages, 2 Dessert. We were still 60 dollars below the minimum $225.00 . Hence , we were told after requesting the check that we could now order food to go to the $60.00 balance. After 3 hours at the restaurant another 40 minutes wait for the to go products was ludicrous. Then in addition they applied the Taxes and Gratuity to the $300.00 total. For reference, the most expensive item on the menu is $29.00 . Should I have ordered 10 Steak Fajita plates for 3 People ?? It just doesn't add up !! We have learned from our mistake. We shall return to Island Prime or Coasterra for a much nicer meal and Far Superior Service for the Same Price point next year and in the future. The Brigantine Corporation has lost our business moving forward, for all of there Restaurant chain."

"They tried to tell me that they did not honor reservations at the bar even though I have made that reservation several other times in the past. I had to get the manager to have my reservation honored at all and then they sat us in the middle of the regular (very loud) restaurant. I ordered a chicken tostada salad which arrived without the chicken and without the tostada, and it did not look quite right. I suspect I got someone else's order. The waiter tried to just bring some chicken on a plate, but thankfully the manager replaced the whole salad. IDK if they were mad at me or if they were using old grease or something, but I was sick all night. Not a good experience."

"First off the employees are great and friendly!Make sure to check on on yelp for 10% because it is pretty pricey! I bought a cubana torta and hot cheetos it was around $24 but $21 with coupon. My boyfriend bought hot cheeto burrito and fanta for about $18. The cubana torta was HUGE and so delicious nothing but good things to say it is the perfect blend of taste would 100% recomment but the portion is HUGE. They are also generous with the meat. The hot cheetos burrito was Ok. I have tried them in other parts and pretty much knew what to expect. However I do have to say the meat is pretty salty. At first i thought it was the hot cheetos but i tasted a part with just tortilla and chips and was not salty. I got the Berry Crazy smoothie which is 20 oz and $8.50. I expected a strawberry explosion of sweetness because the ingredients indicated that it comes with condensed milk. Which I have a HUGE sweet tooth and I got to say I was fairly dissapointed as it tasted very bland and not sweet at all. I honestly couldve gone without those spending those $8.50 and just got a sida to satisfying my sweet tooth. My boyfriend does not have a sweet tooth though and said it was a really great blend!"

"We visited tis restaurant yesterday 6/24 at around 5pm because we wanted to try something new. Nice reception and the place itself is nice. but: The drink menu on the table was so sticky and dirty you didn't want to touch it, and the menu at the next tables was just as dirty. When the actual menus arrived and they were just as dirty and sticky, I wanted to leave. (Remember, if you can't have clean menus, you can't have a clean kitchen). My wife talked me into it and we ordered. Burrito without beans, 2 item and 3 item combo. The burrito of course came with beans and was very salty. the combos, small burrito, taco with chicken and tamales were just dry as the dessert. Even the lemon wedge was dry. Beef jerky is much more moist, even the lemon wedge was completely dry. The beer was in a dirty glass, how could it be otherwise, I had it returned and was told that the glass had been in contact with the rim of another drink. I don't understand how some things can dry on the glass in such a short time from the bar to the table? My daughter's fries were good and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we all had to go to the bathroom several times during the night and the next day because we all had diarrhea. My tip: Go next door to Saltys for good food without diarrhea."

"For starters, the ambience is fantastic. The lighting is very relaxing and there's a lot to look at on the walls. Very nice, intricate designs. The staff was very kind and helpful. To go with the chips and dip, we ordered guacamole. The guacamole wasok, nothing standout about it. Honestly, I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again. The dip that came free with the chipswas really good. I preferred it over the guacamole. Chips were pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant. I wish the menu hadmore meals on it for people who really don't know what to order. Going through the list of all the tacos is great, but somepeople might find it hard to narrow down what they really want. I think a few meals with different items would be nice. Also, I think it would make it feel less like a menu from a food truck. (The menu would be perfect for a food truck. I ordered twotacos (the sunnyside up one and the one with pineapple as well as the avocado and cheese enchilada. All items were reallytasty. The enchilada had really refreshing, mild flavors, while the tacos had quite bold flavors. I really enjoyed thebalance of spice on the tacos. We also got a side order of rice, which was pretty much the standard Mexican rice you can findanywhere. I personally felt that the tableside service was unnecessary. The food came out really quickly and the type of foodit is made me feel like it'd work as just ordering, get a number, then grab your food. The service was good, but I reallythought that it wasn't needed in my experience. Definitely recommend trying this place out. I do believe that if they have afood truck that it would be really popular."

"What a shame to Mexican cuisine. The food lacked visual appeal and simply tasteless. Had the Chicken Mole and it was serve with white rise ?. The Chicken was dry and hard with a crisp bitebto it and the mole was kinda old looking and the taste was horrible. The steak salad was also bad. The Carne Asada was overcooked, almost charcoal looking and appears that they don't marinate to give it that Carne Asada taste. It was so bad we didn't eat either. The drinks however were goot. I guess that's a good thing when combining with bad food. Juat have a few drinks before eating so your not able to remember what the food taste like.If you've never had authentic Mexican food then you probably won't know the difference in taste and you may actually enjoy this place. However those of us that grew up in a Mexican household, this food is simply embarrassing to our culture. Just because you make it look trendy, doesn't mean it taste great. I recomend you hire a Doña to show you how to truly prepare Mexican Dishes because this is simply not cutting it."

The food quality and service has been declining over the past year and don't even get me started on pricing, I don't understand how a food establishment like Lupe's can lessen the amount of food portion and quality while raising there prices it's ridiculous. "I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. As an Asian customer, I felt that my requests were treated as if they were unreasonable. If you're going to open a restaurant in America, why not treat all customers, regardless of their background, with the same respect you offer to your Mexican patrons? I read online that they serve adobada tacos with all the fixings, including pineapple, so I decided to order those. However, when I asked for pineapple, the staff informed me they didn't have any. After insisting a couple of times that I came specifically for that, the server started yelling to the kitchen to chop some up. It was confusing since I had just been told they didn’t have any. Later, when I requested an extra hot sauce — since I received only one of each color for my two tacos — the staff acted as if I was asking for an excessive amount. I enjoy my Mexican food with plenty of hot sauce, so I found this very frustrating. Overall, I will not be returning. Thank you, but no thanks."

"I love mexican food in all forms, from cheapo food truck to artisanal gourmet, and everything in between, and I am NOT picky, but IMO there are 3 basic things that you must get right to be an acceptable mexican restaurant in NYC: 1) margaritas 2) nachos and 3) tacos. im disappointed to report toro loco does not deliver on any of these. 1) the margarita was definitely made with a bottled mix: the taste of artificial sweetener/weird chemical flavor was obvious. 2) the nachos came in a bowl and were crumbled and soggy, and there was very little cheese. it was like a bowl of nacho cereal. 3) they redeemed themselves a bit with the pork taco as the pork was flavorful and roasted nicely. but they dont offer flour tortillas for tacos?! so, fail. also my husbands chimichanga was soggy, with a weird cheese sauce on top of it that ruined it and the cocktails are just bizarre and gross...they are all made with foam and combine flavors like smoked cinnamon and strawberry (so gross). everything is just a little off. its a great location with great decor so if the food and drinks were better it would go a long way."

"Decided to try this place out since a friend raved about it. I absolutely loved the pineapple jalapeño salsa, best I've ever had. The fresh pineapple made all the difference. The steak tacos were really good, amazing flavor! I do think that they should double layer the corn tortillas considering how packed the tacos were, I couldn't even pick them up to eat because they were falling apart. The plantains were perfectly cooked ? wasn't a huge fan of the dipping sauce but I will have to say the flavors completed eachother well. A bit pricy but you definitely get the moneys worth with portion sizes and fresh flavor."

"I first came here around spring time and it’s one of my favorite spots to come to for food and drinks. I have brought all my friends and family here and they have all loved it. I have NEVER had a bad server. They are always so sweet and attentive. The service is like the Trader Joe’s/Nordstroms of restaurants. Lol. I had the chili verde the first time I came and it was delicious. The second time, I tried the chimichanga and I get it every time now as my entree (it’s an appetizer). The queso fundido is delicious and the mushroom quesadilla. I always want to try something new for my entree, but I’m a creature of habit. I know my friend’s/family have loved the ahi tacos, surf and turf burrito, fish tempura tacos, and birria tacos. My favorite drink is the El Mulo. So delicious and refreshing. I’d say it’s my favorite drink out of all the restaurants I’ve been to. I love that the food and drinks taste the same every time, especially the drinks. I feel like other places can taste different depending on who makes it; not here. It tastes delicious every time, like the first time. I am a forever customer."

"I was recommended this place by my son-in-law and he was right on the money! The restaurant was clean and the seating layout was nice. The staff were friendly, efficient, and patient as we perused the menu. The menu had a variety of enticing options, but we decided on the quesabirria and it did not disappoint. The meat was tender and flavorful, the tortilla was crispy with melted cheese, and it was accompanied by a delicious sauce. The chips and salsa were also quite tasty and complemented the meal perfectly. I will definitely be returning soon!"
