"Disappointing experience. We didn't actually plan on coming here last night. Unfortunately the restaurant next door is closed for a private event so we decided to check The Grill out. 1 star for Celeste being so nice and another 1 the nice decor/set up except for the hanging flags. They have 2 for 1 promo which is nice. I initially ordered the Terriyaki Rib Eye with a side salad. I was eager to get my food and I must admit I have quite an expectation. My friend ordered the Oscar Steak (not sure of the name but it's the filet mignon with crab meat). I tried mine first. Tried a small piece...it was TOO SALTY! I had my friend try it and he thinks the same way too salty. I thought maybe because I tried the end piece. I decided to give it another try. This time I cut a little piece in the middle. It's the same. Too salty. I can't even swallow it. I tried my friend's dish and it was okay. I tried to look for our server but she is no where on the floor. Good thing Celeste was there and came to our table right away. I told her the situation and offered to get the menu right away. BTW, the side salad was served without the dressing. It took a few mins (which is I was half way done with the salad without the dressing) before it was delivered to our table. Minutes passed and finally our server came back to our table to get my new order. I picked the Minnesotta Pike (not sure of the exact name as it shows on the menu). It's a fish breaded with nuts. My friend was done eating his dinner when I got my food. It was served on a bed of spinach. It looked good. Tried it, this this it's too bland. I guess the chef/cook forgot to put some salt and pepper on the fish. I had my friend try it. His reaction was worse than mine. I am not sure if they are mocking me because I said the first dish was too salty so this time they didn't put any salt on my new dish. There's also no salt and pepper on the table. I didn't want to get new dish and spend all night at the restaurant so I just ate it and enjoyed the spinach. Celeste came to check and see if I like the new dish better. I told her not really because this time my food is too bland. The server also came to check if I like it better. I told her the same thing. it's too bland as if they forgot to put salt and pepper on the dish. She just said okay and kind of made face. As a server, it's okay if you feel like you disagree with the diner or if you feel like the diner is being just a **** or maybe there is something wrong with her taste buds. I get it. I am a server too. I get that feeling. But never make the face in front of the diner because it affects your tip. You can whine, make face and say and **** about your difficult diners at the back of the house where they don't see nor hear you. I am not on low sodium diet. Just so you know. So salt is okay on my dish. Just not excessive. I am sorry for giving you guys a 2 star review. It was just not a pleasant dining experience."

"We had to request bread multiple times, and when it finally arrived, it was similar to much of the other food we encountered—visually appealing but lacking in flavor. The bread had a unique twist with cranberries, but ultimately it was just mediocre. Next, we ordered the nine-dollar chopped salad, which, in case you’re wondering, isn't included with any of the meals here. It, too, was merely acceptable. A significant annoyance was the presence of gnats buzzing around us, thanks to the open bar area. This significantly marred our dining experience; no restaurant, especially one with such high prices, should allow insects near the food! When my main course arrived, I regretted not heeding the waiter’s suggestion, as it was disappointingly dry and bland. The dessert, a Mississippi Mud Pie, was the only highlight of the evening, but at nine dollars, it should have been a standout. Ultimately, Burt Max’s offers plenty of style but lacks in substance—the food just doesn’t justify the cost. It would be wise to choose the Cheesecake Factory instead, where you can save money, enjoy shorter wait times, be around a younger crowd, and most importantly, have much better food. With so many dining options in Boca and Delray, and new restaurants opening in the same shopping center, it’s clear that all that glitters isn't gold, especially when it comes to Max’s. Don’t be fooled by the atmosphere; you might find yourself dissatisfied at the end of your meal!"
