"The food is the only reason it's getting any stars. The Karaage and Kontatsu were fantastic. The tea was great... what killed it was the service. We sat 20 to 30 minutes in the cabana outside. All the other tables were being waited on and everyone straight up ignored our cabana and even looked our way a couple times. Someone not our waitress) got our drink order gave my husband his drink then said and said our waitress should be with us shortly with ours. Another 10 minutes later after she was done BSing with other staff Jade finally came with our drinks and we ordered food. We saw her three times in total and just as long as it took her to come to us it took that long to check on us and when it came to the check.... another 20 minutes. The food and service was great our first visit here and it was even busier than this time. We would've tipped better as we usually tip 10-15 but honestly the only one who deserved a tip was the cook who perfectly cooked the Karaage and the Ramen and the watermelon was above amazing. Again that is the only reason it's getting stars. When your staff sees someone waiting for so long someone should step up as I saw so much of the outside staff talking to each other or favoring the bigger tables with more than one waitress serving them). We felt awkward getting stares from others when we were the only cabana not getting attention."

"Mediocre Experience at Silverlake RamenI recently visited Silverlake Ramen and ordered the two classic ramen bowls, one with chicken and the other with pork, along with Chicken Karaage and California rolls. While the ramen noodles stood out, the overall experience left much to be desired.Starting with the California rolls, they lacked the freshness and flavor I expected. They felt like store-bought rolls, and to make matters worse, we weren’t provided soy sauce until after we received the check. This oversight was disappointing. The Chicken Karaage was a letdown as well. It mainly consisted of fat and had a chewy texture, which didn’t align with our expectations. It fell short of delivering the crispy, flavorful karaage we hoped for.On the brighter side, the ramen noodles themselves were great. They had a pleasing texture and were undoubtedly the highlight of the meal. My partner even enjoyed her broth, although I found mine to be too milky. Nevertheless, I understand that this is a characteristic of the style of ramen they serve. The beer selection, specifically the Asahi, was a saving grace. It provided a refreshing accompaniment to the meal and added a positive note to the overall experience. One positive aspect worth mentioning is that Silverlake Ramen is pet-friendly. If you want to dine with your furry friend, this restaurant offers that convenience. When it comes to the service, it was instead cut and dry. While we didn’t encounter any significant issues, it lacked the personal touch that would have made our visit more memorable. Overall, the service was forgettable and didn’t leave a lasting impression. In summary, my experience at Silverlake Ramen was mediocre. While the ramen noodles and beer stood out, the California rolls fell short, the Chicken Karaage was disappointing, and the service was unremarkable. If you’re in the area and craving ramen, there may be better options to consider."

"Does nobody in Sherman Oaks know what good ramen is? I came here with high expectations because of the high reviews, but every ramen dish we ordered was extremely disappointing. Another review had said the tsukemen was similar to Tsujita on Sawtelle, butit was a far cry! No bamboo shoots, the soup was too sweet, the meat was tough, and the noodles were not cooked properly.Unfortunately that was still the best ramen item we ordered out of 3. The volcano ramen came in second place but was barelyedible. They ran out of the usual chicken it comes with, so we subbed the sesame chicken as our waiter recommended. Bad idea! The sesame chicken was so hard there were many pieces we had to throw out. The soup was again too sweet, and the other flavorwas just tasteless spicy. The last ramen we ordered was the dry ramen, which is supposed to taste like mazemen. But when theysay dry ramen, I guess they mean the noodles and everything are really DRY. And the flavors were terrible. It was basicallyinedible and none of us really touched it. We hate wasting food so we ended up taking it home with the leftover soup from thevolcano ramen and tsukemen, and it's at least edible the second day. The only things that were decent were the appetizers andthe service, which is why I'm giving 2 stars. The shishito peppers were the best thing we ordered, and the takoyaki was not badeither. A bit pricey at $7 for 4 pieces of takoyaki though. All in all, I'll never come back here even if I'm craving ramen. It's worth the drive down to Sawtelle on the westside for some REAL ramen."
