"To set the scene, it was Valentine’s Day, they had a pre set menu: soup or salad starter, sous vide steak premade, and dessert. (We were not allowed to order our $65 steak to our desired temperature as they were all made between MR and M) Two bartenders seemed to be working, and at least two servers were seen for a restaurant of about 16 tables mostly 2 tops. A host/manager was also on duty. We were sat on time by the manager and greeted by our server. Our server took our drink order and our choices from the menu. My drink was brought in about five minutes. And then we sat for 25 minutes without anyone in the restaurant speaking to us. The table next to us sat after I had received my drinks received their starters by a different waiter. When they received their second course, I tapped their waiter on the shoulder and asked if there had been some emergency with our server since we had not yet received our starters. He went and got the manager who came and introduced himself and asked if there was any problems. I told him that we had been sat for 30 minutes and had not yet received our soup. I received a sassy answer from him where he told me this was the first he had heard about it. I asked how long a starter should take, and instead of answering, he gave me a retort about how I have to understand that he didn’t know that there was any problem , when I continued to ask who he was, if he was actually the manager, and where our soup was, his response was that he could either stand here talking with me or get my soup, which did I want? Instead of our server bringing the soup, the Manager returned about seven minutes later with our soup, which should have been premade in a large vat in the back. As he sat down the soup I looked at him and said I just want to understand that I’m not getting an apology from you. At that point he said “I would’ve given you an apology but you didn’t let me speak.” And that I “had to understand and give him an opportunity.” When I’m paying $150 for dinner I don’t feel that I have to give a restaurant the opportunity to explain such poor service. I never did see our server again. We left then because we didn 't trust that service would get any better. Our server never did come apologize for the delays. The manager promised to refund our $50 deposit that we had put down for this special Valentine 's Day event."

"Came here for lunch on a busy Saturday evening because most other restaurants were closed and Koja had one of the most interesting menus! I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad (Ahi tuna, wasabi mayo, seasoned edamame, seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, green onions, masago, wonton crisps, soy ginger dressing) and fell in love! It was such a perfect balance of sweet and spicy and crunchy and just everything! The tuna was really fresh and everything went amazing together. I didn't have the soy ginger dressing because there was enough flavoring in the salad itself. I had also asked for extra greens on the side and they gave me so so much! Most restaurants only add a tiny amount but Koja did a very good job. I was very happy with this meal. I also got the Teriyaki Zen Koja (Soy and portobello mushroom patty, sesame vinaigrette lettuce, pineapple, teriyaki sauce, sesame seeds), and oh my gosh! Another beautiful one! The crispy rice buns were really so crispy and the overall texture and flavor and everything was just perfect That pineapple added such a good touch and this soy amount was just perfect and I just have no more words. Definitely definitely recommend this one! My boyfriend got the Chicken Bowl(Korean BBQ chicken, spicy gochujang sauce, kimchi, green onions, masago, sesame seeds, lemon wedge, fried onions) and he really did like this one. The chicken was good and ingredients or went well together as well. He had half rice and half salad and was happy with the meal as well. I tasted some of the chicken and it was quite good cooked just right and flavored well as well. He also had the Chicken Koja (Korean BBQ chicken, sesame vinaigrette lettuce, tomato, cilantro, spicy gochujang sauce, sesame seeds, lemon wedge). It looked quite massive and had the same chicken as the bowl. He liked it, but as far as flavor goes though, that Teriyaki Zen one was a lot better! I couldn't recommend it more!"

"Breakfast was good but dinner was horrible. We stayed at the hotel for one night and sampled both. For breakfast we had the ham Benedict and the croque madame, both were tasty but nothing too fancy. Dinner was awful. Really some of the worst food I've had in a long time. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? My husband got the branzino which came with none of things advertised on the menu. The dish consisted of a gritty pea puree, lumpy mash potato and under seasoned fish. I ordered the vegetable gratin, which tasted like the water from boiled vegetables coated in a congealed white mush that was supposed to be cheesy? I've never had such flavorless Gruyère or maybe they forgot the Gruyère and it was just soggy breadcrumbs. The food was well presented but it was 99% presentation and 1% flavor. It tasted like it was made by someone who hates food but likes design. It reminded me of the bad contestants on masterchef who have googled French fine dining and tried to recreate it without tasting what they make. Also the portions were small and the prices ridiculous. We got the warm chocolate cake for dessert which was basically a chocolate lava cake without the lava. Everyone who watches cooking shows knows that making the lava requires a little bit of cooking skill, clearly this was above the chef. Our experience at the restaurant almost soured our whole stay. I think a unique hotel like this really deserves a better chef. I think the menu probably goes down well with people who like something to look/sound fancy, but it's not for people who actually like food."
