"We finally got to try this place after being here a week and we were pleased. The savory butter board was good. We ordered the barley soup and that was delicious! I had the Mac 'n cheese without any additional protein. I asked to add reindeer sausage but I the server informed me they don 't offer that anymore. I don 't quite understand that since they offer to add reindeer sausage to other dishes. The Mac n cheese was good but honestly, did not have a ton of flavor. I added the homemade aioli to it and it was a little more flavorful. I feel like a little salt would have helped too but since it wasn 't on the table, I didn 't bother. My husband enjoyed the lingcod sandwich. He got one of the last ones they had! My niece was torn about what to get and our server suggested the rockfish tacos. She had never had rockfish and was excited to try it. She was a bit disappointed at the small portion of fish that was in the tacos. She wasn 't blown away by the flavor and ended up adding the super spicy homemade hot sauce to them, which she liked. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches for dessert and were pleased! They were delicious, the cookies tasted fresh and the ice cream was a perfect complement! We loved the ambience and decor and the little shop was super fun for some souvenirs. I would return again for lunch if we had more time but all in all, it was a nice experience.Vegetarian options: The mac ‘n cheese was a good vegetarian option."

"We enjoyed all aspects of our experience and we’d like to express what made it so great:The ambiance was outstanding. Our table was outside on the deck overlooking the Sitka Sound which was really romantic (when it got chilly we were given blankets-huge kudos!)The service was top notch-our waiter was engaged with us and multiple tables and knew what he was doing. Our food suggestions were spot on!And now the food! Of the three years together this is probably the best food at a restaurant we have had. Specifically, the scallops, the Caesar salad, the tenderloin, lamb chops, mushrooms, and our crème brûlée mixed with espresso was fantastic!I’d like to give a huge shout out to our Airbnb host (The Turner House) for recommending this restaurant and suggesting us to make reservations well in advance-we can see why now! "During our five-night stay in Sitka, we dined out every evening. Without a doubt, the Channel Club restaurant was the standout. I enjoyed the best salmon dish of my life, and I consider myself quite the salmon enthusiast. The dessert was exceptional, and our server was delightful. The quality of everything was exceptional and definitely worth the price. I only wish we were staying longer so I could return for another meal. While other restaurants were recommended, none could compare to the long-standing excellence of the Channel Club. I highly recommend this restaurant and think the new owner should consider creating a cookbook with the chef. Parking is located behind the building and there is ample space available."

"After a tour of the island, my wife and I decided to go downtown to grab a couple fish and chip meals and an iced tea. Seeing the price of $38 a plate, our expectations were pretty high. We expected a large platter of fish and fries. After finally getting the bartenders attention, him being busy on his phone, we put in our order and waited. We finally got our $6.50 iced tea and asked for sugar. Another five minutes went by before I again asked for the sugar. Finally getting the sugar and sipping some pretty good tea, the fish came out. Wow... three little pieces for fish and a handful of fries. They were tasty but not worth the nearly $100 meal : Sidenote...asked for a refill and was told they 'didn 't do free refills ' Very disappointing! Lots of food truck in the downtown area that looked really good and cost way less!"

"Stopped in for dinner with our group of six (4 who are local). The place was busy but we grabbed the big table in the bar area which worked well for us since we had two children. Chips and salsa were complimentary since they serve Mexican food and pizza. Salsa was good and the spicy version actually had a kick to it which totally surprised me coming from the Southwest. Ordered a medium Meat Lovers and a medium Juan 's Special which was more than enough for 4 adults. Medium pizzas were big. Nice selection of tap beer and soda 's for kids. They did have a children 's menu as well. Waitress was nice even though she was busy. Prices are high in Alaska which was fine but I thought our bill for $120 (including at 20% tip) was a good value."

"This restaurant is a hidden gem, located off the beaten path and offers reasonable prices for an airport bar and restaurant. I enjoyed a delicious Caesar salad for only $10.50, with a great view of the Bay. If you are in town, you will need transportation to reach the airport."

"I had the wings with a dry rub. The wings were done very well. The rub was ok. The rub didn't taste bad, but the flavor was very mild and there was no bite to the rub. There was no line when we showed up, but it took about 10 minutes for someone to seat us. Service was very slow. Staff was friendly. This appears to be more of a party bar that serves food rather than a place that serves food. The deep dish pizza was good, they serve the sauce on the top. The place was relatively clean. It is definitely showing some age and also that it is more of a bar/parry place than a food establishment. I would still recommend it if you are not in a rush, or care much about the party atmosphere. The menu is mainly a bar menu."

"I have to break this down a little....these girls are very on top of their service and the pricing. They were very friendly on the phone and in person. Menu items are fair priced. Although I found the flavors good, I would like to see a more refined offering. The Mac and cheese could be a less dry with more salmon flavor. The lingcod sandwich was definitely tasty with a melty cheese. I would like to taste a little more of the poblano. With that being said, I will eat here again."

"A great place in Sitka for a relaxing drink and a quick snack. Tons of fabulous photos on the walls. Lots of locals frequent here, including Chester, a local from Sitka who brought us some of his canned smoked King Salmon. When you lookup dive bar in the dictionary it has a photo of the Pioneer Bar. They have a limited snack menu, but the mini-corndogs are a fun and tasty treat. They also have a good selection of brews on tap with wines and mixed drinks. The staff members are all very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. One of the few places in Sitka that sells alcohol to go. Stop by for a fun time."

"I had the chance to try fresh Dungeness crab at this restaurant with only 15 minutes to eat before our cruise departed, and they were able to make it happen! The crab cocktail I ordered was delicious, with generous portions of meat and amazing flavor. I hope to visit Sitka again someday to enjoy a whole crab at this restaurant. The service was great, and I would recommend trying the Dungeness Crab dish. The price per person is between $20–30."

"Took my family out for dinner tonight and had the worst experience at this restaurant. The server at the register charged us for the to go order then wanted to charge my wife a second time! We let him know that the money had already come out the account but he continued to be rude and aggressive! He then started slamming on the register and shouting in a different language. We then were ordered to leave without our food while all the employees watched. This was clearly racial discrimination and we’re definitely going to file a report. I’d advise that no one eats at this place if they believe that all restaurants should treat all races the same regardless of color. As a black family living in Sitka this has never happened at any other restaurant and should not be a reflection of our great community of people living here. We will never visit this restaurant again!!!"

"One of the best restaurants in town! They sell a variety of things, ranging from pizza to Mexican, and even halibut! Everything is really well put together and their service is great. They are also really fast too! We had a big group go there, and they got our food in a reasonable amount of time, and they didn't complain once! Super sweet, food is really good, and there is an arcade too so you can have your kids play games if they get bored. And they let you split a check so that's a plus for me!"

"We arrived around 7 PM on a Wednesday and enjoyed a brief wait for outdoor seating on a lovely day. We both ordered a refreshing Pilsner to start, followed by a dinner salad and chowder, all of which were delicious! I added king salmon to my salad for an extra $12, but the portion was quite small. While it was very tasty, I think I'll opt for the chicken next time due to the price. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, service, and food!"

"My mom is a picky eater and usually she has a negative comment about most places we visit but after tasting her mussels and lemon curd cake, she only had great reviews. She doesn’t like milk, butter or cream so it is hard to find her food in any restaurant that doesn’t use those ingredients in their dishes. We were surprised that her mussels had a fresh light marinara sauce without all that heavy cream or butter.My mom also dislike sweets so I am usually the one to indulge in desserts but as soon as she tried a bite of my lemon curd cake (which my waitress recommended over my usual chocolate cake request) she ate more than the half of it.She was genuinely delighted so I knew I had to leave a 5 star review.My lobster linguine was delicious and I loved how you see every bits of the lobster as if the the shell was still on, so it showed that it was fresh and carefully removed.The linguine was perfectly cooked al dente. My picture doesn’t do justice to the dish cause as I ate, more pieces of lobsters appeared- a real treat!The restaurant is small but has plenty of seating. It seems that bartender is also serving food from the kitchen since it was next to each other. The restroom is straight down the hall from the main entrance.We came from a cruise to Alaska so we had limited time to explore but it seems that Mangiare was the only restaurant in a small area with only a handful of shops.I didn’t notice the name on the window and was using google maps to look for a place to eat but was drawn in by the Sitka Hotel and Lounge sign that was over the entrance door.This restaurant was definitely a highlight in Sitka. Pricing is actually cheaper than most seafood dishes in Miami, Florida. My mom and I truly enjoyed our food and will look for Mangiare on our next visit."

They make high quality organic unique juices and smoothies, all hand crafted and absolutely delicious! I had the Raw Cacao and it was excellent and energizing! "In our location, it's a different experience. They offer ham and turkey, but sadly no BMT or club sandwiches; however, everything else was available. The staff was friendly and efficient, which is a refreshing change from some places in the lower 48, where it's clear the employees aren’t interested in serving customers. The restaurant was impressively clean, with no mess around the soda fountain and no food or napkin scraps on the floor. Overall, it’s a pleasant place to eat."
