Wow! I adore this place. We came to Norfolk for a trip and found Chartreuse Bistro on our first night and we've been almost every night since. The food is incredible, the staff couldn't be nicer and the interior is fantastic. I just can't rate it highly enough!

My husband and I traveled across the water to try this restaurant, and we were blown away. The food was incredible, but the atmosphere and the staff were equally impressive. We were both thrilled and would highly recommend this place to anyone. It's hands down my favorite restaurant in the decade I've lived here. Chartreuse Bistro is an absolute gem in downtown Norfolk. The inside is charming with simple elegance. The owners are a lovely couple who make the dining experience very personal. Service from the wait staff is excellent. But, the food! Impeccable, delicious, artistic with a changing menu that is farm to table and showcases the chef?s versatility and talent. This restaurant was fantastic! My boyfriend and I chose it for a more upscale date, and we were pleasantly surprised to find we had the entire place to ourselves that evening. Although the prices are on the higher side, every penny is worth it! The staff is wonderful, and the drinks are expertly crafted. The food is simply exquisite. The presentation is stunning, and every item on the plate complements the others beautifully. Everything tasted fresh and truly offered a unique experience. My favorite dish was definitely the homemade gnocchi; it had a delightful texture. By the end of the meal, I found myself surprisingly full, but in a good way. We are not newcomers to this gem, but haven 't been since prior to COVID. We returned for lunch today with friends we hadn 't seen in over a year. It was exquisite. With only the owner present and 3 parties of four we were one) , the service was spot on. And the food???? Perfection. The focaccia teaser had me wanting more than the perfect bite. Between the four of us we had the beet salad such a lame description for this perfect summer blend of beets, blue cheese, fresh greens and a delicate vinaigrette), the Virginia black bass served whole and cooked perfectly, flaky and light) and the salmon with a sumptuous lemon risotto.
