"I went to Fontanella's for a nice dinner Friday evening with my husband, daughter, and sister who was in from out of town. We arrived around 9:30. We asked our server what time they closed and she said 11:00. (website listed 11:30, but we figured we still had time for dinner). We ordered appetizers and drinks and a carafe of wine. We noticed upon arrival there was a group of people at the bar and one behind the bar with a glass of wine in his hand. There was only one other table occupied. We ordered our entrees, were served, and were finishing up our wine at around 10:55 when we noticed the lights went up and music was turned off. A man who we later discovered was the owner came over and very rudely told us it was time to go. My husband, who just finished paying a check for $118 was floored. We are not used to being treated so inconsiderately so my husband spoke up and asked the guy if he was the owner to which the man replied he was. This man's actions were totally uncalled for, and inappropriate toward a paying customer. We told him we would not be back and he called my husband a nobody and stated he did not need our business. We will never step foot in this establishment again and it appears the owner needs to have a few less glasses of wine if he is going to be handling customers."

"It was about time!!!!! I think this place deserves more than 5 stars!! After a looong and challenging week at work, we had to end Friday on a pleasant note and that is exactly what we got when we had dinner at Somi Sushi last night! Like I always say: never judge a book by its cover! This place is located in a small business mall and is just as small as it is cozy. But the food was out of this world!! We ordered a Bento box and three different rolls. The bento box presentation was elegant and had a couple of interesting and delicious sauces, the tempura is the best we have had in NC so far in our 2 years living here. The salmon was fresh, the sushi rolls were cut the perfect size and the presentation was very appealing to the eyes and the flavors were a burst of joy in every bite. Is not a fancy place but is perfect for a date night or simply to enjoy the best sushi in town!! We are on a mission to find more places like this one, as sushi lovers, I highly recommend this place and we are adding it to our favorite list! Price was reasonable, considering that you are getting the best and most fresh sushi that we have found, so far ."

"The fresh taste and unique aromas are what customers love about this restaurant! The sorbet here is not your typical gelato; it's light, milk-free, and has the texture of gelato. It is a Latin American style that you won't find anywhere else in Matthews. The staff is very friendly and let me try a variety of flavors like cantaloupe and tamarind. They also offer mixtures of flavors. I chose the celestial and coconut and was extremely pleased. The flavors range from subtle to bold, with most falling on the delicate side. They even have a honey flavor! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. If you're looking for ice cream instead, you can always head to Bruesters."

"This is one of our go-to restaurants, and my husband and I come here several times a month. The quality of the the food has undeniably slipped over the past few months, and they never seem to have enough servers working. Nonetheless, it's our local spot and we really enjoy the vegetarian dishes, ACP varieties, and diablo shrimp. So we were so disappointed to discover yesterday that a new menu has been implemented with higher prices and our favorites are no longer available. Having to now pay $1.95 per basket of chips and salsa ultimately had us walking out the door and up the road to a different Mexican restaurant.I understand that some people may take advantage of free chips salsa, and $1.95 isn't a lot, but it's widely expected to receive them. They may also help promote further drink orders from non-dining patrons. Perhaps just require a minimum order amount, say $15, and they are complimentary. Order below that and you have to pay. At any rate, I'm not sure that we will be returning."

"Eating their stuffed grape leaves tasted homemade they were both nostalgic and delicious! Their hummus and tabbouleh were also very good. It looked like their kibbeh was double fried, extremely delicious with their hummus, garlic sauce (like a garlic greek yogurt), and their tahini sauce. We even served warmed pita bread, the big pockets!! Not the small ones you see in the grocery stores. Absolutely delightful servers and owner.
