We ordered off the Sunday night fixe price menu and were very happy with our meals! I had the 6 oz. filet and it was absolutely delicious the rest of the sides were also very good but I would say the portions were on the smaller side, especially the dessert so that was a little disappointing. Service was also very good. We were celebrating an anniversary and we had a lot of fun!

We immediately felt welcomed, I had noted in the reservation that it was for an anniversary and they had special menus that said Happy Anniversary and hearts on the table, the server was excellent and did a great job walking us through the options even the off menu ones. The food was absolutely fantastic, easily the best steak I 've ever had. I would absolutely recommend this place for any special occasion

We celebrated my husband's birthday at 801 Chophouse, and we had a truly delightful meal. We began with the beef carpaccio, which was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I chose the salmon, which was accompanied by wonderful flavors that burst in my mouth. I didn't realize it came with sides, so we ordered the creamed spinach as well, which ended up coming home with us. For dessert, he had the coffee cake, while I opted for the chocolate soufflé—I definitely need to return just for that. The food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered a variety of dishes, including a fried lobster tail, oysters, a wonderfully flavored strawberry salad, lobster mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, some delicious Wagyu beef, and perfectly seasoned carrots. One member of our group had the lamb, which was praised as perfect. I was also treated to their soufflé, which was incredibly tender and flavorful. I have to give a special mention to the scrumptious bread! Our server was very helpful with flavor recommendations and was both friendly and knowledgeable. If you’re in the Des Moines area and looking for an excellent steakhouse, 801 Chophouse is definitely the place to be.

We had a reservation at 5:00 pm for 2 of us. Arrived/seated timely. Server was very nice and talkative but he took our order, brought our bottle of wine and then literally disappeared. Our food was brought by someone else who literally dropped it and ran off. No one checked to see if our steaks were cooked to the correct temp or if we needed anything else. The steaks were great but we had to flag someone down to get horseradish. We sat there with my husband's plate being empty and me waiting for a box for more than 30 minutes. I came to meet a coworker and I was excited as I have heard a lot great things about the establishment in question. Here is my story. I was running 15 minutes late so I called to let the staff know and it went to voicemail 3 times. Even when they were 10 minutes away from opening, they did not answer their phone. Finally at 5pm they answered and I verified that my party was seated and entertained while I arrived. When I got to the restaurant, it was a fiasco to find parking. Oh. My. Gosh. !. If you are not from Des Moines, make sure you add at least 15 minutes to your travel for parking.
