"This restaurant serves some of the best Mexican breakfast dishes I have ever tried. We ordered chilaquiles, machaca, huevos rancheros, and a bean and cheese burrito. The chilaquiles were outstanding, with perfect tortillas and a flavorful sauce. The machaca was the best I've ever had, with perfectly scrambled eggs and moist, flavorful meat. The huevos rancheros were also fantastic, with perfectly cooked eggs and a complex sauce. The handmade corn tortillas were delicious, and the bean burrito was phenomenal. Lastly, the waitress was very friendly. I highly recommend this place."

One of the best ramen bowls I had tested in this country, it is located in the middle of the nothing on I-80 Nevada, but I will come back.

Great little Mom Pop Mexican cafe'. We came to this town to try Phil's Fish new location. Phil's was closed, so we picked Alfonso's. This will be our new choice for a great meal on the road after a visit to Monterey. Voir le carte

Made with pride and care, these plates were special. Thee posole was everything I wanted. Mighty taste, lots of richly flavored hominy with all proper condiments. Special artichoke and carnitas enchilada plate. Fabulous. Grilled tender artichoke and pork chunks swimming in plate lickable sauce.

We have been coming to Alfonso's for many years. Not only do they have the most delicious Mexican food. The owners always come by and talk to you by name. The wait staff has excellent customer service. They are now doing Italian food on Fridays. It is also delicious. We will be going back for many years.

I visited a clean and airy restaurant bar in the County that serves delicious food. Today, I tried the Pozole and was impressed by the fresh taste of the corn and light gravy. The flavors blended perfectly with a hint of tanginess from the slice of lemon. It was a delightful experience savoring this simple dish. The shrimp ceviche was amazing. I highly recommend checking out this spot. Voir le carte

The food at this restaurant is incredible! The Machaca breakfast, bean and cheese burrito, and corn tortillas were all delicious. Some of the best I've ever had. The service was also fantastic - friendly, helpful, and the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing. I'm coming back tonight for dinner! Additionally, the presentation of the dishes was some of the prettiest I've seen in a Mexican restaurant.

Food was bland didn’t have that Hispanic kick at all . when I ordered tacos I thought it would be like street tacos. I orders 5 because it was dinner time. When I got my food they were filled with tomatoes and cheese. I never eat cheese in tacos. I can never tell the difference when ordering tacos. I barely finished 2 payer $21. When taking orders they should tell us hey our tacos are different and bigger. Now I have wasted food

"We went on a very busy Friday evening. We've always wanted to try this place out bury never had the opportunity until now. When you walk into this restaurant, I felt as though I was transported to a small Italian restaurant nestled in Venice...it wasn't the decorations but possible just the building itself that reminded me of restaurants in Europe. Although the place only has window units, it wasn't as hot as the 100° heat outside and it was welcoming. Note to everyone: make reservations for Friday or Saturday evening as they are packed! We didn't know this and the lady asked if we wanted to sit outside and because it was nearly 110° outside we asked if we could sit inside. She stated they were completely booked but she will do what she can. There was a large group of 15 that had reservations and her and the owner, Luigi, made accommodations to fit my family of 4. You can tell the atmosphere was one where these people are regulars the way the owner interacted with them. The menu was extensive and had everything for everyone. They also gave you complimentary garlic bread that were beyond amazing! This can be a meal in itself! They came out piping hot and fresh! Beware, you can get full off of these alone! One is not enough! We ordered the following: 1. Cheese pizza 2. Chicken piccata 3. Chicken tetrazzini 4. Spaghetti with meatballs Ask my daughter and the cheese pizza was two thumbs up, ask my husband and he said the pizza was really good! Great flavor, not too thick, not too thin for their liking. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was very good. The only criticism I have and it's a weird one, was that I thought there was too much chicken. Don't get me wrong, I like chicken but when it comes to pasta, I love pasta and the sauce much more! Next time I will ask for less chicken and more pasta. It was great. Not too buttery, capers gave it a punch, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. My husband had the tetrazzini and I will tell you I absolutely thought it was better than mine! I loved his more and it had such a great balance of flavors of peppers and artichoke and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I will probably order this next time! My son ate the spaghetti and meatballs and said it was the best spaghetti and meatballs he's ever had! He tore right into it and loved it, which is rare. The meatballs had great flavor, but the sauce reminded me of the chefboyree, which my husband loves so he loved it as well. Update: we are here again and did the meat sauce and it was soooo much better in my opinion. I ordered some Dessert and all were so good. The owner is incredibly nice and accommodating! The service was great as well! I love this hole in the wall! Love this place! Definitively Recommended!"

"It's been a long while since the last time my wife and I were here. The Castroville Cafe is really a charming place, located in what used to be an old house. Very nicely decorated inside and out. The food is what you come for and not the ambiance but it's really nice when the two work so well together. My wife and I shared a sandwich called the Rachel, sliced turkey, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on toasted rye. Now I'll be honest here, that first bite of the sandwich was good but I thought it was a little sweet for me. I think it just surprised me a little bit, I wasn't expecting that and I don't know why, it plainly said it has coleslaw and thousand island dressing. Well that sandwich was delicious. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also had a cup of chicken tortilla soup with the sandwich. You wouldn't think that would be a good soup and sandwich combination but you would be wrong. The soup was homemade and it was also super flavorful. My wife had the potato salad for her side and she really enjoyed it. It can seem a little pricey, but you won't feel that way after you taste the food. The waitstaff was very attentive and they couldn't have been nicer. Even the people seated around us were talking about how good the food was. If it's a nice day, sit outside on the front porch and people watch. If it's cool outside they'll even bring you a blanket. I think you'll enjoy this little jewel of a restaurant in Castroville."
