Back Burner To Go - Carte

Amazing! I had stuffed mushrooms (stuffed with crab imperial) only 4, but they were outstanding. I also had beet goat cheese salad which was exceptional. The atmosphere is lovely. Staff were friendly and courteous. I had a wonderful experience.

My best culinary experience in Hockessin. I can't give enough praise: the service deserves a 10-star rating, and the dishes were flawlessly prepared. I was particularly enchanted by the pumpkin mushroom soup, the wedge salad, and the lemon drop martini.

Had an excellent time last weekend, also with how busy they were, waiting was not as much longer than expected. All staff were super friendly, costs were fair, atmosphere was the perfect hit between imagination and casual. Can't believe I grew up in Hockessin and never knew these guys were here. Come on! Love, love, this restaurant. Had the pumpkin mushroom soup that sounds weird but excellent. I had the short rib for dinner and my wife had the grilled eggplant. The short rib was very delicate and tasty. The part was good too. My wife loved the grilled eggplant. Alcoholic drinks were very good. The service was a little slow. I think they were a little occupied.

We decided to visit on a whim, without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. We ordered the New York Strip Special and the Lamb, followed by the crème brûlée for dessert. The food was outstanding—the meat was cooked to perfection and the dessert was exquisite. The service was a bit slow, likely due to a shortage of staff, which seems to be a common issue these days. Despite that, we will definitely be back.

What a fabulous little gem in our own back yard. Every time I visit, I am more impressed by the selections, the staff and interesting prepared foods. The place is clean and well organized with fanciful fun displays. The staff enhance the experience. Mary the manager knows all the regulars by name and often takes the time to chat up even the first timers, so they feel like BBTG family right away. Decent selection of fancy snack foods, cheeses, store made cheese dips, and meals to go. Fairly expensive, but decent quality. I got a few foods to go and was pleased with the quality. My one issue with the wedge salad was it had very few toppings. Typical 1/4 head of lettuce, decent amount of blue cheese, then a small amount of bacon bits, 2 grape tomatoes sliced in half, and a few strands of onions. All fresh, but I was expecting a few more vegetables and toppings. Like maybe a few more tomatoes, carrots, and peppers.

I discovered this cafe on accident while shopping next door at the Everything But the Kitchen Sink store (which is awesome, by the way! . I've eaten just about everything on the Back Burner to Go cafe's menu everything is amazing! One of my fav's though is the Pumpkin Mushroom Soup. Oh, and you can sit in here you don't have to do take out. They have about 10 tables. Nice, nice, nice, place and nice people here too! When you dine here, take a Better Cheddar Cheese Ball to go. Your friends and family will LOVE you forever for it!!! LOL

Can't go wrong with a local cafe that's part of the iconic Back Burner. If you don't want to go for the typical Panera, or if you even just want to change it up from Capriotti's or Two Cousins, check out BBTG. They've got a wide array of prepared foods that you can choose from to eat in or take out, and they've also got a full cafe menu that's made to order. Everything from soups to sandwiches to salads. I typically get a sandwich (I like the turkey avocado, made with real turkey slices! , though I've also seen many people enjoying the soups on offer. The staff is cheery and helpful, and the environment is homey it feels like you're in a lodge. It's a great place to escape to on a rainy day... Voir le carte
