"For our appetizer, we chose the calamari, which was excellent. I noticed in other reviews that they provide a generous portion of marinara sauce, and I can confirm that. I'd much rather have too much than not enough! We typically order a couple of dishes to share, so we picked the redfish and a fried sampler platter. The fried shrimp was the best I've had in a long time, and the catfish was just to my liking. I prefer thinner fillets, as thicker ones can taste too "catfishy" for my palate. My dish came with fries, but I opted to add red beans and rice just to try them, and I was not disappointed. They use more tomato in their recipe than I'm accustomed to, but that gave it a wonderful flavor that I’ll definitely try to replicate at home. The other dish we ordered was the redfish topped with gumbo and crawfish tails, which had the perfect texture and flavor—I could eat it every day! We were too full for dessert, and we didn’t order drinks from the bar, but we appreciated that they serve filtered water. (It's surprising how many restaurants in Abilene skip this simple but significant detail.) Everyone at the restaurant was friendly. Our server was attentive and quick to clear away dirty dishes, which I really appreciated. The other servers in nearby sections were just as attentive and welcoming. When we arrived, there was a wait; they quoted us 20-25 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 10. Perhaps they gave us a longer estimate just in case, or maybe the large group that left in a huff cleared out the waiting area. Regardless, we didn’t mind waiting, especially after enjoying such a fantastic meal. The group that left included a man who was quite large and was yelling at the host while getting physical, which was uncalled for. His wife was egging him on. The manager handled the situation with remarkable politeness, even though the man was behaving like a petulant child. I believe in treating everyone with respect, and it's simply unacceptable for someone to intimidate another person, especially a woman half their size. The staff repeatedly apologized for the disturbance, which was unnecessary; they managed the situation with professionalism even though the rude guest didn’t deserve any courtesy. Thankfully, he eventually left, and everyone in the lobby applauded. We then went on to enjoy a lovely meal."

"Firstly, the bridal suite in the upstairs warehouse area either lacked air conditioning or the system wasn't functioning correctly on our big day, making it uncomfortably warm. Secondly, we had brought our own cigars, and while the coordinator initially informed us that they sell cigars and that smoking was permitted outside, she later changed her tune when she saw us using a butane torch lighter—standard for cigar smokers. She claimed it was a fire hazard and questioned why we couldn't just use matches. Fortunately, one of my groomsmen pointed out that it would take an entire book of matches to light even one cigar. Thirdly, our wedding party was wrongly accused on two occasions of bringing in outside alcohol, which simply wasn't true. My best man had an empty flask that he placed on the table while we were smoking. This raised questions when the coordinator came to confront us about the lighter. Additionally, because we had children in our bridal party, we provided Hawaiian punch upstairs for them, and we were incorrectly accused of drinking that as well. Fourthly, while my maid of honor was in the bridal suite tidying up, the coordinator came up to interrogate her, reminding her that everything needed to be put back as it was found, and proceeded to question her about the Hawaiian punch for the kids. Fifthly, we had chosen a cash bar, and I mistakenly thought this would allow guests to open a tab with a card. As a result, all of our guests ended up using the main bar, which closed down very early because of the confusion. There were several other issues with how customer service was managed, but I don't want to go into all of them. Having worked as head of security for a major bar/event venue in Fort Worth, I’ve never encountered such poor customer service—especially considering we had just paid $2,500 to rent part of the venue. We were respectful and courteous to the staff at The Mill, but we did not receive the same respect in return. Although the venue itself is beautiful, the customer service needs significant improvement. Until these issues are addressed, I would not recommend hosting your wedding here."

"I visited for the first time and entered through the back door near the parallel parking area, which left me a bit confused about where to place my order. Eventually, I made my way to the front where I found the register and the menu. My daughter was uncertain about what she wanted; the cashier was very patient with her. She initially wanted a bagel, but they were out, so she opted for chocolate cake instead. I ordered the chocolate zucchini bread. However, when my order was ready, I was informed that they were out of my daughter’s cake. They offered her what was left, and she settled for a cinnamon roll, mostly because she was hungry and didn’t have many options. At the food window, the cook returned a dime difference from my change, but I wasn't interested in it—I just wished the full menu had been available at 3 PM. The front room was uncomfortably hot, and I would have preferred to know that drinks were to be picked up at the register and food at a separate window. I felt a bit lost and awkward during the whole process, which could have benefited from better customer service. On a positive note, my daughter enjoyed the cinnamon roll. However, I found the zucchini bread a bit dry and overcooked for my taste. The macchiato was less sweet than I’m used to, and the same goes for my daughter’s vanilla frappuccino. This is just my personal experience, and we may give it another shot on a cooler evening. Thank you, even though we didn’t receive a “thank you, come back soon”—that's just how things go in Texas!"

"This is your go to if you like being lied to or ripped off!! 1 star for the chicken atmosphere/service, though its about the most EXPENSIVE chicken dinner in town at 20 PER PERSON!! Oh AND if you share an order youre now charged TEN DOLLARS EXTRA for veggies that are from a can or box and already incorporated into the original HIGH price! THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU THEY 'RE CHARGING YOU EXTRA until you get the ticket and you 'll be charged even if you DONT refill the sides!! Do we think folks are sharing more now because menu prices are CRAZY? Nah, let 's find other things to charge em for and see how long we can stay in business! Check your receipt folks, theres been a STEEP increase! Building is deteriorating. Hostess never informs guests of out menu items when asking for a table. Long waits. Want to take leftover chicken? Heres a PLASTIC SACK! We just can 't risk you trying to take these sides were gonna trash and have 3 whole dollars invested in but charged you 10! Abruptly began disallowing phone orders. No transition of informing customers, no courtesy, nada. Already on the phone to ask about the changes? Order REFUSED! They cite lack of employment as the reason though they 're obviously full staff. The ONLY method of putting in an order before arriving at the restaurant is ONLINE! Can 't figure it out? Drive to the restaurant and WAIT (for them to probably run out of what you wanted to order)! Not everyone is in a position to navigate the CUMBERSOME, 12 step, online process each and every time they order i.e. driving through without a copilot. Many older folks can 't or won 't navigate online orders. To top it off mgmt has the nerve to say they 're doing it to help you as youre out the door with A SINGLE ROLL per order (that are now half the size they once were) and itty bitty side portions for the same price as dining in! Its all about them not wanting to deal with the phone while making extra off to gos to boot! You mean you dont feel HELPED by this? Then there 's no ticket on the bag to check the order against at pickup, so who knows if its accurate. Greed has ruined Belles."
