"Upon entering, we saw a "Seat Yourself" sign and noticed a guy walking in carrying a case of beer right behind us. He turned out to be the DJ for karaoke night, which we were not informed about. Since it was still early, we assumed the karaoke would start later, like at most bars, so we took a seat. After about ten minutes, a friendly but overwhelmed server greeted us and asked if we had been helped. Ten minutes later, what seemed to be the owner came by, but just as he did, our server returned. There were only four tables in the dining area—just four! So why was the staff so swamped? Two young women were busily clearing tables throughout the bar and dining room. With so few customers, couldn’t one of them have been trained to serve? Meanwhile, the bartender appeared to be just chatting with a few regulars, seemingly not inclined to help out with service or clearing tables. It was later mentioned to us that they didn’t have a liquor license, but you could bring your own alcohol. If that was the case, then what was the bartender doing behind the bar? Socializing? We ordered five wings, a side salad, and two brisket sandwich plates with fries. After a 20-minute wait, our food arrived—but it was disappointing. The wings were burnt on the ends, the brisket was extremely dry, and the fries were neither crispy nor hot—obviously not fried to order. On the upside, the side salad, which didn’t require cooking, was decent. The person who had recommended this place felt genuinely sorry since they also did not enjoy their meal and remarked that it was nothing like before. Then the karaoke began. It was unreasonably loud, not just in the bar but even near the dining area, making it hard for the elderly couples to converse. After their meals, I noticed that no one else came into the dining room once the karaoke started, and it was remarkably poor quality—almost unbearable. If you’re looking for good singing in Lewistown, I would suggest checking out the Mifflin Juniata Concert series at the high school instead. Our evening concluded with us sitting next to three dirty tables, while the two previous bussers were belting out their karaoke tunes—a bit too much for us. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. It’s a shame because it seems like they’re trying hard, but it’s just not working out. The staff were nice, though."
