"There are three things we really enjoyed about our experience here. First, and this caught us off-guard, is that the intention is for the plates to be shared. We didn't know that walking in. The plates are more generous than at a typical tapas restaurant,which is perfect, because you really want to try as many things as possible from the menu. Second, everything was farm-to-table and there was lots of fresh veg. It was wonderful to have fresh veg be a prominent part of each dish. Third, thefood was delicious. Once you order, the chef curates the order of the dishes to give the best flavor sensation. If you are tiredof the same old, same old, try The Shallows for a delightful change of pace."

"Road Trips have resumed post COVID! Found a great place in Westerly with a fantastic drink menu and delicious sandwiches. Lobster Panini was the best ever!!!!!!! We drove almost an hour to get there; but, it sure was worth the drive!!!This place isdown the street from Wilcox Park which is a really nice place to walk off your lunch!!! Very warm, comfortable and relaxedatmosphere with non- traditional table seating. Staff and owner were super friendly and helpful. lol"

"I wanted to love Ella 's. I was almost certain I would, based on some of the great things I 'd heard about it. Unfortunately, our experience here was a mixed bag some of it good, some of it bad, some of it bordering on bizarre. First, the good! Most of the food we ordered was great. I had the wagyu burger with fries, and it was perfectly cooked. We ordered olives and focaccia bread appetizers, and they were both a hit. My partner had the duck frites with jumbo asparagus, and it was surprisingly bland, but outside of that everyone was happy with their meals. The dining room is nice, with tasteful artwork on the walls and a relaxing atmosphere. Now the bad (and bizarre I don 't want just say the service was bad because that doesn 't adequately explain what went wrong here. To be clear, our waiter was very pleasant and friendly it 's more that, on the whole, Ella 's ~vibe~ is missing the mark, and is in some ways contradictory. It 's obvious that they are trying to be a Capital F Fine Dining Restaurant. It says so right in the name, which may be your first indication that they very much want you to know that they are a Fine Dining Restaurant. Not only do they take women 's orders first at the table, they will tell you that they are deliberately taking the women 's orders first, so there is no confusion as to How They Do Things There. There are no hats allowed in the dining room, according to the host, who is wearing sneakers. To ensure that we were enjoying our Fine Dining Experience, we were visited by our waiter in approximately four to five minute intervals, sometimes including a thorough wipe of the table, whether or not we were in the middle of a conversation. (We racked up quite a check in tally, considering our food took about an hour to come out. There is a $2.50 plate fee (not to be confused with their $5.00 split plate fee , which, despite inquiring, we were unable to get to the bottom of what exactly that is all about. I don 't consider myself an authority on what fine dining should or should not be. I 'm a restaurant layman. That being said, I know that in some of the nicest restaurants I 've eaten in, subtlety has been key. I think Ella 's would do well to reel it in a little bit, drop the thinly veiled pretentiousness, and let the food and atmosphere speak for itself."

"Was told on the phone it would be about 45 mins for my take out. Walked in to pick up my order of 2 Oak burgers and onion rings after 35 mins. The teen host went to check on my order and before she came back the owner/chef came out from the back of the house to yell at his staff that to go orders are taking an hour. All triggered because I walked in 10 mins early. The host came back and let me k ow it would be another 5-10 mins. No worries on my end, I was 10 mins early. Felt bad for her. She offered to bring it out to me but I didn’t want her to have to do that so I came back in after 10 mins. Got my to go order and went home to enjoy the burgers. Opened the containers to find way undercooked onion rings, fries instead of chips, and a bun that looked like it came from the bottom of the bag. To their credit the burgers were cooked just as I had requested. Medium rare and medium well. Treat your staff well and don’t embarrass them in front of patrons. Improve the food quality and we will be back."

"Loved this Italian restaurant in Westerly/Pawcatuck! We did have reservations and they do recommend making one. The bread and red pepper hummus served was delicious! The food came out very fast and well prepared!! We enjoyed the calamari which was perfect and a great flavor including the cherry peppers and artichokes. We loved our housemade pasta dishes! The pasta was great! I really loved my white truffle fettuccine!! It had a delicious taste with the right amount of truffle and pancetta! The service was great and the waitress helped recommend a perfect wine for my husband's meal, the pinot noir by Saddlebred. Dessert was a key lime pie which seemed to have a chocolate or oreo crust which is was interesting but the consistency and texture of the key lime pie was great! Creamsicle Martini tasted exactly as is and enjoyed the passion fruit mojito too! Will certainly come back again!"
