The pulled pork BBQ was spot-on! The restaurant was clean and the service was excellent. Price for pulled plate with fries and slaw and hush puppies was $6.99 at lunch time. If you like barbecue, it's worth the stop. The menu is varied, so plenty of choices, just haven't tried them yet.

Wonderful BBQ stop. Service was excellent. Waitresses offered suggestions. Three sauces to choose from, vinegar, tomato and sweet heat. Chopped pork sandwich with coleslaw for me. Hotdog all the way with Buffalo chips for my husband. Baked beans are really baked and delicious. So glad we stopped! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $1–10

Kurb service only in North Carolina. I called when we came from Interstate 77. We arrived three or four minutes later and had our food in one or two others. Many bark the excellent cooked queen. The food at this restaurant is excellent, which is why I gave it 5 stars. However, the issue is that you can't actually order any food. When I called, their answering machine said they were closed due to Covid. Meanwhile, other restaurants in Mount Airy are thriving, offering dining in with social distancing and takeout options. I'm not sure why the Wood Box decided to close down. While I understand the concern about the virus, it's time to adapt and get back to serving up delicious BBQ with proper safety measures in place.

This is an excellent NC BBQ space. They only do curbside during the pandemic, but this does not seem to affect the food quality. Between us we had BBQ style and regular Slav, frits, potato salad, Hush puppies and chopped BBQ with sweet and vinegar sauce. Everything was great. A server goes to your car and offers a menu and takes your order. Our server was very helpful, pleasant and patient. Too bad we live 300 miles away. We took our food into a beautiful small park with picnic table in the middle of the city center of Elkin. What a great lunch!! I'll put this place on my list.

This is definitely a 4.5 5-star restaurant, from super fast service (consider that I have little patience) to ingenious food. I'm very picky about food and that's AMAZING food. I could eat the food they eat 3 meals a day and not with it for a whole week. All her food is great when you're on the street and when you're hungry. I also like this place because it is safe (they follow the rules of social distancing). It is a great place to stop and not worry about a global pandemic and have this peace of mind.
