"After that, she hardly came back to our table—maybe four or five times. I waited over 25 minutes to order my second margarita. During that time, I noticed her chatting with the hostess and then spending more than 15 minutes at the bar. Our food was left sitting in the window, and my Italian sandwich ended up burnt from the overhead lights. It took the chef to get the food server's attention to finally remind them that our food was ready.
Even after that, she didn’t return for a while. When I went to the restroom, my partner said she came by, noticed my card was down, and asked if we were ready for the bill (we weren’t). He said no and tried to finish his sentence, but she had already walked off. We were also hoping to get a box and order a cheesecake to go; it took her another 15 to 20 minutes to return.
When we received the cheesecake, we were surprised to find it covered in strawberry purée, which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu as far as we could see. Overall, it was a frustrating experience—and I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this one. The situation might have felt different if the restaurant had been at least somewhat busy, but there were only about 15 people there, including those at the bar.
Having worked as a server in a busy restaurant for eight years myself, I understand the challenges that come with a hectic service. I also recognize the difficult customers who look for faults. We are not those customers; we were friendly from the moment we arrived, with no intention of being rude or disrespectful.
We have previously brought family and friends from out of town to this restaurant, as the food and service have usually been exceptional. We left this time feeling really disappointed. It was particularly disheartening to see our waitress neglect our table—purposeful or not—while she spent so much time chatting and switching locations.
As a follow-up, I am unable to respond to the owner's reply. To answer the questions asked, we were seated closest to the bar and kitchen, right underneath the dripping HVAC system. I cannot recall our waitress's name."
