"Let me start by stating that this review is by no means a reflection of the service or the quality of food we received. It is a reflection of this establishment not vetting their new hires more thoroughly, thus causing a very stressful atmosphere for my wife's birthday dinner. On Feb. 4th, 2024, my wife chose Trattoria Trullia as her go to for her birthday dinner, as she has many times in the past. During those visits the service and food was always top notch. However, this visit was different. See, my wife works at another restaurant over in Cardiff, which sits right on the beach, and she as well as some of her fellow co-workers were the victims of sexual harassment. A fellow co-worker had been under the influence of drugs and was grabbing his fellow female coworkers inappropriately. This person was immediately fired. Imagine my wife's distress when we arrived at Trattoria and he was now employed there. She sat through our entire meal, while not saying anything to our group for fear of ruining her the dinner vibe and causing a scene. This was HER birthday dinner. He had even come to our table and bussed a couple dishes in close proximity to her and then promptly, kept his distance. She only informed me of her distress after we arrived home. I am sure you can only imagine how absolutely infuriated I was upon learning of this. Having grown up in Leucadia and patronized this establishment many many times, its saddens me that I can no longer recommend this establishment to my friends or family until this new hire no longer works here. I would ask that this establishment vet its new hires better."

"I ordered delivery from here and to say I was disappointed was an understatement. I ordered the Chicken Parm. I have NEVER IN NY LIFE seen that entree priced so high- it cost me $45 on Doordash. I thought it was just the delivery service gouging me until I went to the website and found it was $42 on there. So not a huge markup. Just expensive af for no good reason. When it arrived, I was extremely disappointed. The portion was huge, but it didn 't have ANY flavor. A huge portion of not delicious is not encouraging. It tasted like it truly had no seasoning. Also, the pasta aglio e olio that came with it had less than no flavor. It literally tasted like noodles dunked in canola oil. I tried to chalk it up to Maybe it doesn 't travel well until I talked with family members, who had an ENTIRE WEDDING REHEARSAL DINNER at the brick and mortar location, and they all said their food was tasteless as well. So expensive and so unfortunate. This was truly a waste of money."

"Kai’s is a great “local’s” restaurant with friendly service, quality food, an an exceptional view of the beach. The ambiance is unpretentious and tidy. The servers and management are friendly and attentive. This restaurant has a low key vibe. The wine list could be upgraded. While there are many favorite dishes that we keep coming back to, it would be nice to see a fresh look at options. But this comes from our point of view inclusive of 23 years of visits. There are plenty of diverse options for newcomers. On nights with musical entertainment, it doesn’t overwhelm the restaurant. The main room noise level is definitely not for conversation when the band plays, but both patio areas provide space to hear the music but still be able to chat. During this visit we heard the Benedetti Trio play. They partnered with the dining experience perfectly."

"We’ve dined many times at our favorite North County Gastro pub. I’m happy to report, they are back of their previous level of excellence in food, ambience, and service. I had their gumbo which was expertly seasoned. My wife had the shrimp and grits, her perennial favorite, which remains excellent. Service by Rachel Was spot on, friendly and punctual. This is a classic North County Gastro pub, I frequently bring out of town friends to get a sense for a classic San Diego eatery. Highly recommended. "
