"Exceptional food in an authentic, non-demanding environment. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, which added to the great experience. For bread lovers, there are 3 different breads, all of which are made there and are all wonderful. I stop on the way out of town to pick up bread and take it home to friends. My salad was fabulous and the vodka chicken pasta (a specialty) was cooked perfectly with a wonderful sauce. The specials change with the seasons. Desserts are all made there and everyone looked great. We share the ice cream on Sunday with homemade caramelized marshmallows and chocolate ganache. It was wonderful. You can share it with 4 people as it is very large. We will definitely have dinner here again when we return to Mayo and Golf."

"I have visited this restaurant many times and it never fails to impress. It serves the best pizza in town. My only critique is that I wish the Clarkston location had a fryer for French fries. The service for takeout is excellent. I usually have dinner here and the price per person is between $20 and $30. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive a rating of 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying their cheese pizza."

"I had Union Woodshop BBQ on my list of restaurants to try, and when I was driving through Clarkston on my way home, I decided it was the perfect time to cross it off my list. Even though I wasn’t super hungry, I figured I could take home anything I couldn’t finish. I’m so glad I stopped! I ordered the Classic Tray, which came with a 1/3lb of brisket, pulled pork, and dark meat chicken (my preference over white meat). I also asked for a fatty cut of brisket, and they were able to accommodate that request. The tray came with slaw, pickles, and I opted for corn muffin over white bread. I also added the BBQ baked beans, and they were absolutely fantastic. To start, I went with the fried pickles appetizer with house dip, which was excellent. The deli-style dill pickles had just the right amount of breading, light and crispy without overpowering the pickle. The meats were flavorful and tender, not overly smoky, and served on a tray similar to the style you’d find at Texas BBQ joints. It felt authentic and satisfying. The service was equally impressive—our server was attentive, explained the menu and options thoroughly, and made sure my drink was never empty. I didn’t have to wait to be seated, but we were there around 4:30, just ahead of the dinner rush. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely be back. I’ll also be recommending Union Woodshop to my friends. And yes, I did take home what I couldn’t eat and enjoyed it the next day."

"Kruse’s Deer Lake Inn became my favorite restaurant in the area. They have some unique flavors (like their current harvest salad, the candied pecans, apples, bacon, goat cheese and a bacon vinegar that sounds questionable, but is quite delicious). And everything on the menu is great and they have a wide selection of dishes, depending on how I feel (Ribs, parmesan encrusted flounder, fish and chips, black chicken slaughter, Tortellini Pasta with chicken and palomino sauce). You always have a good desert on the menu also (the four berries crucifix is my favorite, and now it is apple crucifix). The service was absolutely amazing every time I was there, and the management was also exceptional."

"As a person who travels for work a lot, I eat at a lot of breakfast places. The omelet here was one of the best I have had, even in comparison to some high end restaurants. The service I recieved from Ashley was attentive and friendly. As I sat there and watched customer after customer come in that were clearly regulars, you could see the care that the employees had for them but never sacrificed my service to give them more attention. I live about a half hour from here but I think on the future I'll continue to pass a lot of other places to go here."
