"The food is as good as it looks! Let me just say the owner Erin who is a true stand up and very generous was kind enough to speak to me and my girlfriend about great places to go and eat in Chicago. Very kind and welcoming and his restaurant is truly awonderful place to dine in and get a taste of New Orleans. Also our waiter Jeanna was so phenomenal at explaining the dishes andhelped us greatly when we decided to choose. We go the fried chicken meal which was just so rich with flavors and well prepareddefinitely get that! Also the Jambalaya is a true taste that you?ll get of New Orleans once you get so many different deliciousvarieties in one bowl! The crab fitters was very good and had a blend of bread and pecan which was so good wasn?t expectingthat! For dessert we got the chocolate pecan pie with fruits on top and it was one of the best desserts I?ve ever had!Hurricanes are also a great drink to get. Wonderful server, wish I could remember his name. It’s was New Years Eve, the place was hoping, with a good vibe and the food was excellent. Could not have been happier. Thank you. Visualizza piatti

Good food, unusual menu. The place was crowded on a Thursday. Very cordial staff. Wine list and drink choices were a bit limited. But I do understand. You can't keep everything in stock, and have some things sit around for years. We attend, once or twice a year. Local, nice place. Enjoy!

The food is decent, with a strong emphasis on Cajun cuisine. The shrimp and grits are quite tasty, but my standout favorite was the banana foster bread pudding; it was simply the best dessert I've ever experienced! They also offer complimentary valet service, and the atmosphere is perfect for dressing up and enjoying a romantic evening out. Overall, it's a beautiful venue for a date night. Visualizza piatti

Everything about this place was great. Food, ambience, drinks and service were exceptional . We arrived at 4:00 , we were seated promptly, waiter came minutes afterwards we ordered drinks and appetizer. My friend and I had strawberry jalapeño martini they were delicious. We also had the fried green tomatoes which were the best I have ever had. Our entrée was equally delicious. I had the blackened red fish with collard greens with etoufea sauce with white rice amazing!! The portions were large so I took home about 75% of my meal. We will definitely be back!

We ordered the fried chicken, which was rich in flavor and perfectly prepared. The Jambalaya was a delightful representation of New Orleans cuisine, packed with a variety of tasty ingredients. The crab cakes were also impressive, featuring a wonderful blend of bread and pecans that pleasantly surprised me. For dessert, we enjoyed a chocolate pecan pie topped with fresh fruit, which was one of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted! The Hurricanes are also a must-try drink. Overall, this is a fantastic place to experience the culinary delights of New Orleans. I promise you won't be disappointed!

"If there is a restaurant that is a Birmingham institution among the wealthier crowd, there is literally only one name that locals would bring up, and it is undoubtedly Highlands. Not that there aren't other nice restaurants, but this spot has proven itself over time and is ran by a chef that most Alabamians are quite proud of. Opened in 1982, Highland's is a place that put Birmingham on the map in a positive way at a time when the post industrial iron period was about to wind down and transform the city. Frank formalized his cooking techniques by working in kitchens of San Francisco and France, creating a medley of American Southern and French cuisine that is difficult to find elsewhere. It was not a time when it was common to see a chef from Alabama going to study cooking in Europe, thus the story was already an anomaly. Frank Stitt was trying to pioneer sustainable agriculture and farming well before anybody in Alabama knew what in the world that actually meant or for that matter, cared. One of the signature items is the baked grits that has been around since the restaurant opened. It's a tasty grits preparation and without a doubt, something to try. The pheasant was spectacular, fairly lean and with a crispy delicious skin, served with grits and green beans. Pastries here are created by Dolester Miles, who has been in the job for well over 30 years. The opera cake is absolutely spectacular, gentle and complexly layered. The basque cake is peachy and moist, with a crispy delicious exterior and Chantilly cream. Not only are these likely the best desserts to discover in Alabama, but may be some of the best to be found in America. The attentiveness got derail was clearly evident. As far as service, generally fine, but not particularly attentive. The waitress did not seem in much of a mood to welcome people to the establishment. Many items on the menu were running out by 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Nobody was particularly impressed with the flounder that got substituted for the grouper. And then there are other questions, why would you run out of grits? They know they are always filled to capacity and ingredients to make grits are not immediately perishable. Highland's has by this point in Birmingham's history become a classic. It's evident that most people here have been around for decades working at their jobs and serving the rich crowds of Mountain Brook. It's a place of great food and shows many combinations of ingredients that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere, let alone be executed this well."
