"Working with Emily on the menu was a breeze; she was patient and came up with innovative ideas right from the start. Chess Club delivered six mouthwatering meals that left our guests raving. Highlights included artichoke dip, sliders, Swedish meatballs, homemade bread, biscuits, potato salad, lunch wraps, mini homemade cinnamon rolls, sausage crisps, homemade pretzels, Caesar salad, lasagna, grilled vegetables, homemade salsa, and breakfast burritos. I mention these dishes because, as a host, I felt immense joy hearing our guests from Texas, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee all exclaim, "THIS IS AMAZING FOOD." Emily was prompt with the delivery, even arriving early, and she set up beautiful displays of the food. "I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was amazing and fresh with generous portions and great flavor. The atmosphere had a cozy southern charm and they even had custom changing tables for mothers and their newborns. You have the option to sit outside or inside, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Our server, Megan, was wonderful and helped me choose a dish that I ended up loving. I tried the turkey guacamole panini with fries and their house-made ranch, which was delicious. I will definitely be returning if I am in the area again. Overall, I highly recommend this place for lunch. Prices range from $10-20 per person. Rating: Food 5/5, Service 5/5, Atmosphere 5/5. I recommend trying their chocolate cream pie."

"I hadn’t visited Blanco in a while, so I was pleasantly surprised to discover this gem. The gelato here is amazing! I tried the citrus cream, the root bexar (which is reminiscent of a root beer float), and their version of mint chocolate chip. All of them were outstanding. I also sampled their feta cheese and bought some of their meats. I’m already thinking of reasons to go back. Who would have thought that water buffalo milk could be such a fantastic ingredient for gelato and cheese?"

"Love this picturesque casual restaurant with a local Texas feeling in the heart of the beautiful little town of Blanco. Apparently, it is a busy and popular restaurant judged by the crowd of people there. And why wouldn't they be popular? You have live music, good service and food! It's a winning combination in my book. It's on Blanco Square, so you can take lunch and go shopping in the cute shops. We had sandwiches with wonderful homemade breads. I enjoyed her great Cesar salad with chicken. We sat on the veranda terrace as it was a beautiful day. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Next time you're in Blanco, try it."

"I had the brisket quesadilla, which was very greasy although tasty and the tortilla was still crispy. I put a LOT of paper towels in the plate to soak up the grease and keep the tortilla crisp. The beans that came with were peppery and delicious. My husband has the Cannon dog, which he loved give it 5 stars! . The atmosphere was clean, but nothing special. What stood out was the lack of interest the two older women servers had in actually doing their jobs. They spent most of the time talking to each other behind the bar, showing each other stuff on their phones. The shorter of the older women was personable when she came to take our order, but the taller one wouldn 't look at us when we walked in except to stare at us with a blank expression while we waited for some sign as to how things worked there she finally asked me if I wanted a menu and brought me one my husband was in the restroom put it on the high table near me without looking at me and was gone before I could ask if we should seat ourselves. When my husband joined me standing there looking at the menu, he caught her eye and asked if we should seat ourselves, she grunted an affirmative. Later both of them came to our table, and the shorter one asked if we 'd chosen a drink, as soon as my husband said his choice, the taller one walked off to get it mine came several minutes later . If the place had been busy and they 'd been working, the slowness and neglect would have been perfectly acceptable, but it wasn 't and they weren 't. Maybe it was because we weren 't locals? But there were a couple of other tables that received similar treatment as far as I saw. There was a younger server who these two also mostly ignored while she worked another table and kept fairly busy. The food and beers were good enough that we 'll try this place again. Maybe it was just a bad day..."
