"velvet and rye is the ultimate date night experience. the ambiente is amazing, elegant and aesthetically appealing. lena is broken, it looks like 3 parts and velvety and is roggen where they want to be for a heel and clutch at night. our server was very attentive and friendly. I enjoyed the blackberry rose colonies, which refresh together with a glass prosecco. As for eating, I was not impressed by the menu outside the pizza and even with the pizza, we ordered the meatball and a pfeffersalbe, both were just okay. the garlic parmesan wings were so good. even if the selection of foods was not the best, based on the ambiente and service, I will recommend all couples for a cute date night out."

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"this last visit was not different than before, great. hank has moved to a new location in two days, but we have made a reservation to give him a last step. the service was great, but I forgot the names of our waiter that he was timely, helpful and very nice. the best escape of the night is the mixed seafood grill that they will not be disappointed."

"My friends and I went to Cheesetique for restaurant week. We sat outside. The space was great, the weather was great. Upon arrival, it took a server about 15 minutes to come to our table, and that was only after a friend went inside to ask for someone to service us. The server who had served our friends, who had arrived 10 minutes prior, was bartending. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. The drinks came out relatively soon after. The food took a normal amount of time to come out of the kitchen. We got the watermelon, quinoa salad and truffle balls as apps. There was no dressing with the salad, just spinach leaves, watermelon, and quinoa. It was very basic. The truffle balls, although good, were balls of cheese. They gave huge cheese balls but only 3 tiny pieces of bread. We ordered a Mac and cheese for the table which was not salted very well at all. For the main course, we ordered gnocchi, pot pie, and braised beef. The beef and mashed potatoes were the best. The pot poe and gnocchi were not nearly salted enough. All the food came out 'warm ' at best. Dessert was fine. Overall, not at all worth the amount we paid for restaurant week. We were left disappointed. The service was slow. I do understand they might have been short staffed, but even waitresses who were not our servers looked as us, after being there for 15 min and walked past. We asked someone to get us water, which was never brought to us, so overall, disappointed in our dining experience, considering how much we paid."

"Recently visited DC in August in Remembrance of my grandmother and this local eatery was walking distance from my hotel. I saw advertisements in our hotel room and thought, why not. So, on a 5minute stroll we, made it. Its a small spot but very busy. While looking over the menu, atleast 3 or 4 uber eats drivers did order pickups. The inside is fairly small but they have about 5tables with chairs. We got a bottle of wine to take back to the hotel and had a couple of spritzers with our food.. our food was really delish!! The butter garlicky wings and the artesian style pizza was definitely a winner. I definitely recommend n should we take at the particular hotel on my next visit ,cause I gotta come bac, I will absolutely be eating here, again.. N although they were very busy, they still explained menu items, welcomed US to the city and gave suggestions on places to go."
