"We couldn't figure out what to do today. We started out looking for Mexican, but the kids decided they wanted Chinese. We head to this Chinese place my wife remembers from years ago. When she tells me where it is, I tell her that no such place exist, so we start exploring a plan B. The kids are ok doing ramen, except my wife is scared that the restaurant is empty. I don't feel like Filipino food, so we head to place I heard was good Hunan. We step in and the inside looks really nice. Evidently they won some awards years back, which they proudly display. After we sit, we take in the atmosphere. The menu is written in both English and Chinese, a good sign. We try to steer away from our usual choices of broccoli beef, orange chicken, chow mein, etc. We didn't do very well. We got pan fried chow mein, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork and bao tze to start. The black bean sauce with the bao tze is what made the difference for me. My wife liked the bao tze by itself. The chow mein was ok, but I would have preferred traditional over pan fried. I have yet to find a place that stinks at making broccoli beef, thankfully. And the sweet and sour pork was good. Overall, decent restaurant. Worth the price? That's a hard one to justify in my book. Good for groups? Most definitely"

Best Chinese Food in a 200 mile radius. The quality and flavors are unmatched. Wish they advertised more to draw in more business in order to sustain their operating costs. Hidden Gem in Fresno Ca. Will definitely be missed.

I came here after a long time and really enjoyed . It was great to notice their food quality has remained the same and service has improved. Their lunch menu offers variety of options and plates are off decent size . I need to come here for dinner to enjoy more dishes .

Good Chinese food! Placed my order, done in about 20mins, picked up, came home, ate! My son I both like it, no complaints really, Just wish the orange chicken was a little crispy. Will definitely be going back. Will also add, I like the to-go boxes. Not flimsy or leaking everywhere! View menu

Is it true that Hunan is closing permanently? The owner changed the hours to 'closed ' across the board. This is a sad development for the Fresno/Clovis restaurant community if true. Hands down Hunan is the best Chinese food restaurant in the Valley. Good luck to the chef and the rest of the ownership group if this rumor proves true..

The power of yelp was put to the test again and I'm happy to report it was successful. I had to spend the night in Clovis for a client meeting and I searched for Chinese food while traveling on the 99 fwy. The high ratings were quite justified. This old fashion Chinese dinner house was just what I was looking for. The place is big, clean and comfortable. Service was excellent, the prices are decent and the food was quite good. My bao appetizer was decent as was my house special noodle soup. Nothing uber special but delicious Chinese comfort food and a much better option than a crappy chain restaurant.

The famous restaraunt with no sign located in Cedar Tree Plaza, behind a For Lease sign. (Down the alleyway on the left) Chef Liu does not disappoint . Even for lunch he whipped us up some of his famous butter cream prawns which sound a lot like prawns with frosting, however they are in the weightlesd airy batter. A perfect pairing with sliced strawberries. They remain absolutely fabulous just like his peach prawns . We had the combo luncheon as well with the General Chicken Comes with vegetable chow mean, two super lightly battered egg rolls and soup or salad. The salad had a wonderful of all things peanut butter and miso and soy (from what I could tell) dressing. Very different with sweetn... View menu

Hunan Chinese Restaurant is a family favorite in town. They have unique dishes that can only be found here and when you know what to order, this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Fresno. For the food: As an appetizer Green Onion Pancake comes out hot and crispy. Soup Lamb with Sour Cabbage Hot Pot. If they're out of sour cabbage, they'll use picked mustard green. The soup is flavorful with that punch of sour cabbage. If you like sauerkraut or pickled foods, then give it a try. Butter Cream Prawns are must order dish. Strawberries are a surprising sweet addition to the dish. Chongqing Style Chicken is not for the faint of heart it is tossed with a ton of chili peppers. Don't eat the p...

Everyone raves about this place for years now. I haven 't had it in a long time. We ordered the black mushroom stir-fry that came with the bokchoy. It was pretty and delicious. I was just sad they cut off the leaves of the bokchoy to make the dish more presentable. I want to eat that part! Lol. Veggie eggrolls were whatever. My eating partner had the combo chow mein which they remembered loving... but was disappointed it wasn 't as good as they remembered. I asked if they had any spicy sauce. They gave me two. One was a hot chili sauce paste that was a bit on the saltier side. Another was a fresh chili oil they made that actually had a kick! I was all over them but had to stop every time my...
