"In general, I did not find Chicago to be an extremely vegetarian friendly city so I was very happy to find this restaurant very close to the airport during my trip to Chicago. I really love Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. The setting is very simple (plastic plates and forks) but the food is very affordable and extremely tasty. The restaurant serves vegetarian and non vegetarian options so it is a good place for a group with mixed dietary preferences. There is an entire page of the menu dedicated to vegetarian/Vegan options. They serve various soy meat substitute products such as steak, chicken, chorizo and Soya Pastor. They also serve cactus. I tried various options and found everything to be absolutely delicious! I highly recommend a trip to this restaurant if you happen to be near midway airport in Chicago."

I had to double check with the waitress if she had gotten my order right. The chicken tasted too real!!! It was extremely delicious and affordable too.

there are many possibilities. that is the only place I was having a lot of fake tacos meat. even if they choose avocado tacos, they are very generous with the avocado. faster service, great prices.

A south side original. The tacos de soya al pastor are my favorite, but the others are always delicious as well. The staff is decent, and on weekends it’s usually pretty packed. There’s also a drive thru, which may be convenient for some.

I can only give them 4 out of 5 due to happy cow restrictions, but this place deserves a 5. They have good, cheap vegan food (ask them to take out the cream or cheese for the soy tortas and tacos). Their torta de soya asada tastes really good.

So tasty! Generous portions. The torta vegetariano was priced so cheaply I figured it would just be a sandwich but it was a full breakfast including fresh melon big slices of cucumber on the side, a scrumptious pile of homefries, and some very serious habanero sauce. I plan on hitting this every time I fly thru Midway. View menu

I have heard of their vegan options and decided to try them. I thought eating was pretty good, but not amazing. torta cubana vegana (at ordered sans mayo, eggs or tomaten) it was a good sandwich, but would have been so much better with vegan; it was dry without it. vegan mayo is sold everywhere, so there is really no excuse to have it not as an option if they sell vegan sandwiches. tacos I tried the soy pastor (no acidic sawn, no tomato) and the soyasada. Both were ok. nothing that was characterized with aromen. they give them a lot of vegan protein; they are not at all exaggerated with the part. the horchata was good.

I heard about their vegan options and decided to try them. I thought the food was pretty good, but not amazing. Torta Cubana Vegana (when ordered sans mayo, eggs, or tomatoes) it was a good sandwich but would've been so much better with vegan; it was dry without it. Vegan mayo is sold pretty much everywhere, so there's really no excuse not to have it as an option when you market and sell vegan sandwiches. Tacos I tried the soya pastor (no sour cream, no tomatoes) and the soya asada. They were both ok. Nothing that stood out with regards to flavors. They do give you a lot of vegan protein; they aren't skimpy at all with the portion. The horchata was good.

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
