"I was extremely disappointed with our overall experience at this restaurant. I chose this location based on previous reviews, thinking it would be a nice spot for a Valentine's dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and were promptly seated at a wobbly table in the back corner of the patio. It was chilly outside, so we requested to move indoors but were denied. We were given menus right away, but had to wait about 20 minutes for a server to come introduce themselves. I eventually had to ask a busboy for help. Our drinks, weak margaritas, were served without napkins or silverware. The food was eventually brought out after another 30-minute wait, and while it was hot and well-presented, the flavor was just average. The plates were quickly cleared, but we were never offered dessert or any after-dinner options. After waiting another 20 minutes, I had to flag down our server once more for the bill, which took another 10 minutes to arrive. Overall, the service and experience were not up to par for a restaurant in the Gaslamp district."

Beautiful place for lunch. Great outdoor patio and a nice place for a gathering with friends.

Food was disappointing. I had carnitas plate and it tasted like limes. My friend had enchaladas which were not good either.

I had a great time at the restaurant. The food and drinks were delicious, and the waitress was very friendly. All the staff were helpful and attentive.

The short ribs are absolutely wonderful. The margaritas are delicious and large. We had the Mercado salad which was fresh and large enough to share. I didn't want the usual Mexican fare and La Fiesta didn't disappoint. View menu

We visited La Fiesta several times in the past, although it's been over a year since the last visit. We found the food quality has gone down, they actually charged $2.50 for chips and salsa which are standard free items at every Mexican restaurant we've ever attended. The food portions were smaller and, quite honestly, not as tasty. Disappointed.

Service was horrible. We went to La Fiesta for my 30th birthday and booked a week in advance for 20people. It took forever to get both our drinks and our food served. I ordered enchiladas suizas and it came with rice and beans but the rice was undercooked and the beans tasted like they came right out of the can. Definitely not going back. We had one server for a group of 20.

My experience at La Fiesta was terrible! The food was awful and the service was equally bad. Four people in our group of 20 ordered dishes that required green sauce, but we were given red sauce instead because they had run out of green. This should have been communicated to us when we ordered. The chicken fajitas I ordered were extremely salty and I couldn't even eat them, despite being recommended by our waiter. We were all very disappointed with our meal, especially considering we spent $400. I will not be returning to La Fiesta. View menu

I ate at La Fiesta twice while in San Diego. The service is excellent in all respects. Both times our server was happy to accommodate special requests for menu substitutions or modifications, and to issue separate checks for members of our party. The ambience was conducive to conversation with colleagues. The margaritas were large and well-made. The food was good, but the portions seemed quite variable. The first night I had the combination plate, which was just the right amount of food. The second night I had the cartnitas, but the portion of meat was so large that I could only eat half of it, at most.

The food was good but everything else was TERRIBLE!!!!!! We went for my husband 'd weekend birthday celebration and did not have a very good time. The food , although good, was overpriced for what you got. The waiter was loud and abusive and hostile he got the orders wrong, the drinks wrong and even messed up how I wanted my credit cards charged!!! And when he was asked about any of those things he got aggressive say such things as, I did 't give you those drinks! . I didn 't know that, what am I a mind reader? He also was 't very attentive. Needless to say, I will not go back or recommend this place to ANYONE!!!!!!!!!

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
