"Travelling through the Pyrenees the GPS was making unusual choices. In this case a big detour forcing a gigantic U from Tarascon sur Ariege to Arreau going through small villages where the road passed midtown hence slowing down.It was well pass midday and noticed an...unusual double towered XII century church and next to it a pretty shady garden with people having lunch. We parked by the side of the church and got a table in the garden. What a pleasant surprise. Sort of one of those things one sees in the movies but are likely rare . It was an excellent bistro with personnel which spoke French, English and Spanish very fluently. In true bistro style they had a menus selection in a blackboard and we chose the stewed baby goat that was one of the best we ever had, really finger licking good. The desserts were creative and the selection of cheeses of the region amazing. They served local wine by the glass and had an excellent beer. Overall and outstanding surprise lunch in charming environment at a great price. We were sorry to leave this idyllic scene to continue the road trip and for once thanked one of the many dumb choices of Tom Tom GPS."

Superb food, based on bio and regional products. Friendly staff (speak english) and suitable die kids (healthy food, not the usual kids menu ****).

Lucky for us to find the place late in the morning. We went for the menu du jour and it was all delicious and so creative. Perfect service and good price for the quality of the food, I strongly recommend. View menu

We were hoping to be given local dishes to give us a taste of the area. We had plenty of choice and the food was excellent and beautifully presented. The service was attentive and charming. The restaurant was packed, clearly a popular eating place.

There were 12 of us so we pre booked the meal. Service was excellent, the starters were gazpachio, with crevettes in tempura batter. Delicious. I had the fish as a main course, lieu served with muscles and a tomato and pepper sauce. Pudding was reine claude sorbet with cream and crumble. All delicious.

The absolutely best restaurant in the entire region. Excellent food, contemporary French cooked with pride and a lot of attention to attractive presentation. Excellent wine selection and pairing options with the menus. Also very nice garden for outdoor seating. A must visit if you haven’t...been there yet. View menu

Delicious food, good wines and great friendly service, and good spoken English as well. Arrived with a large group and were looked after very well. They ran out of our preferred choice of duck and foie gras, and quickly offered an alternative with veal which was 1st class. The best food we've had in France the last 3 weeks.
