"The food here is consistently excellent. I used to live close to this café and would dine there multiple times a month. Although I now reside in the Heights, I still make an occasional trip to Luby's. Their menu caters to all tastes. My go-to order is the tilapia with sides of cabbage, mac and cheese, or roasted okra. Today, I tried the enchiladas, beans, and dirty rice, and they were delicious. I always finish my meal with a slice of lime cake or cheesecake. The prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is welcoming."

I ordered a veggie plate to go. The food was hot and tasted good. There was a lot to choose from. This location has always been good and the dining room is clean.

I had the roasted chicken Mac and cheese and cabbage…the chicken could have been crispier but it had a nice flavor and it wasn’t dry..!! The Mac was creamy and good…and the cabbage was really good…all the vegetables looked good and fresh…im going back for a vegetable plate soon

I've been visiting this charming restaurant, Lubby, for many years. I adore the decor, and the food is absolutely fantastic—exceptional quality for a cafeteria, all at very reasonable prices. The Chicken Fried Steak is consistently excellent, and the pumpkin cake is a must-try as well.

I've been here for a decade and I've seen it slow down over time. To be fair, I came relatively late in the evening so that on me, but the food probably had a minute sitting in the heating area and was dry. It used to be a good price for a good meal, but it starts getting more expensive for a worse meal. I don't go back more than once a year, and I went at least monthly. View menu

Even though we tease about the older clientele, I have to confess that my husband and I dine at Luby about once a week, and we’re both still in our 20s. The prices are affordable, and the food is the comforting home-style cuisine we grew up with. They seldom have my favorite salmon croquettes, so I usually go for the baked almonds instead, while my husband opts for the fried fish or chicken-fried chicken.

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
