"Our evening was a spur of the moment decision, after a busy holiday season of cooking and entertaining, I needed a break! I was so happy that Breakwater had a table available. We didn’t realize that it was Restaurant Week, so that added to the dilemma of deciding on our dinner selections. My husband ordered from the restaurant week menu with a wine pairing, and I decided to have pistachio encrusted salmon. I never choose salmon when we dine out because we prepare it frequently at home and my husband does a wonderful grilled version. I decided to give it a try, however, and was so happy that I did! It had a crusty coating, and was very moist and delicious! The side of puréed cauliflower with goat cheese also helped in my decision as this is one of my very favorite vegetable preparations as is grilled asparagus which was also included. It is rare that I leave a restaurant without a leftover dish…but I managed to enjoy every last bite! My husband’s meal started with the broiled oyster appetizer and a French Chablis (our favorite). The oysters were awesome, and we suggested that they be added to the regular menu! The short rib dish was also delicious, paired with a perfect Shiraz. His menu included a tasty salted caramel pudding (which he shared with me). It was a very cozy evening in the main dining room, all of the wait staff seemed to be enjoying their customers, and for us it is always a delight to find Lisa greeting us as our waitress. We always enjoy her cheerful manner and she makes us feel very welcomed. We thought the evening could not have been better, but then a very unexpected event happened. Lisa explained that another couple had paid our bill in full! We were astonished, and were able to speak with them a bit and thank them for their “random act of kindness” before we departed. I hope they know that they have set our minds in motion for what we will do in like kind for someone else in this first month of the new year!"

"I wouldn 't say this place is tucked away in downtown Beaufort...I think nestled in the middle of downtown is a better way to say it. This weekend is the Beaufort water festival and we came early to grab lunch before going to the park. Kat had lunch here yesterday and wanted to bring me so here we are. The building is quite old but clean and offers a nice vibe. We both had the same tacos, the buffalo chicken and the southern Gullah, both of which were very fresh, tasty and the flavors were very well balanced. Now, these are $6 dollar tacos we 're talking about, but two is plenty making for a $12 lunch per person which isn 't bad in 2024. I wasn 't going to have alcohol with lunch but I will say they have a pretty wide signature cocktail menu, so we 'll have to come back one evening soon. I 'll give this 5/5, I really liked it."

"Saltus River Grill is a very good restaurant. Our server was superb...we wanted a leisurely dinner and he handled that perfectly, taking our order in stages. Ambiance is very nice, though it is a little noisy. Our meals were excellent...I had a Delmonico that was cooked pretty much to the medium rare I requested. My wife did not care for her entree but that was a matter of personal preference, no fault of the restaurant. We will be back!"

"We had an amazing dining experience! The food was creative, and the service was excellent! We were the first customers and we will definitely be back! UPDATE: We've visited around ten times in the past few months, and this place has become our favorite dining spot in Beaufort. It offers a wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, and great service! Be sure to try the Escargot or Shrimp appetizer, as well as the salad and any of the secondi, pizza, or main courses. The drinks are unique and creative. This place is fantastic! Reservations are recommended, but the bar operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Enjoy!"
