A hidden treasure in Lincoln Heights. The staff was friendly, inviting, and attentive. The ambiance is intimate, trendy, and inviting. The cuisine is exceptional. I had another fantastic dining experience at Mazal! The food is inventive and tasty, the service is attentive and professional, and the ambiance is lively and enjoyable. Some of my top picks include the labneh with fried olives and crispy onions, the hamin, and any vegetable dish on the menu. The pita bread and hummus are also delicious. They also have an outstanding wine selection with some unique options.

The ambiance of this delightful restaurant is what initially catches my attention. Situated by the River LA and surrounded by light industry and abandoned factories, Mazal stands out. It exudes a urban and chic, funky and refined atmosphere, and, most importantly, the food is amazing. The hummus is the best I've ever tasted, the salads are fantastic, and the warm pita bread is puffy and delicious. It's my preferred style of dining and the type of food I love the most. As a bonus, the wine list is exceptional.

To be honest, the service at this restaurant was awful. After being seated by the hostess, we were not given menus and no waiter or waitress came to our table. We had to track down the hostess to ask for menus, but still no waiter showed up. It wasn't until much later that we were finally able to flag down a waitress, but she rarely checked on us or refilled our drinks. The chef in the open kitchen eventually noticed our situation and stepped in to help. It was obvious that our waitress and others were more interested in chatting in the corner than attending to their tables. I have to say first of all that as a 28 yr vegan, Mediterranean food is my favorite after American salad fare. It broke my heart when ELF closed during the pandemic the only veg Mediterranean place in all of LA. Well Mazala opened in Nov 2020 and it’s veg with oodles of clearly labeled vegan and dare I say I like it even more! Mazala is Israeli food and you won’t find rice. I was looking for a place on the way to a ball game in dodgers stadion, just made by the 110 fwy a wrong turn and voila , I find this place recently opened. a Mediterranean vegetarian cousin . wow . definitiw not another falafel stand, the place has a unique mood with string lighting and soft music in the back terrace like a middle eastern gasse . we sat outside on ohhh, which is a beautiful real hole in the wall between a marijuana steering and a factory of the firearm. the waiter told us in advance that the kitchen is overwhelmed and that food comes as it is prepared .and oh wow, pita brot so hot and fluffy we had to leave it cool and hummus oh soou well. they have other spreads like spicy...
