"As for the restaurant itself, it’s one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area. It’s very affordable (the vegetable combo is an incredible deal), the food quality is excellent, and the staff is always friendly and eager to help, even if they aren’t the quickest with things like refills. While their competitor, Zeni, located on the Saratoga/Santa Clara border, might have a more authentic vibe with traditional woven tables and seating, I prefer Mudai by a long shot. Recommendations: definitely try the vegetable combo, where you can choose four out of five items, all of which are fantastic. Almost anything with lamb is a winner as well. And don’t miss the ginger tea—it packs a punch (which is great if you’re a ginger lover like me). This place is excellent for vegetarians and lamb enthusiasts alike. If you’re planning an outing with vegetarian friends from India, I highly recommend it. Most of the Indians I know haven’t tried Ethiopian food, so it can be a unique shared experience. Just a heads up: because of the eating style, things can get a bit messy, so maybe save this for after the first date!"

Another of the many understated San Jose neighborhood joints--really, a hidden treasure. Have come here quite a few times, but yesterday was the first since the beginning of the pandemic. Glad to see that it's still the same. Great food, friendly andrelaxed service.

Absolutely loved the Ethiopian cuisine. Has a striking similarity to South Indian cuisine. We each had a Sambussa more like a Samosa but with lentil filling and 2 Vegetarian combos for the 3 of us, and it was more than filling. The Ingeras are an healthier option since it?s made of Teff. The sides that were offered with the combo were pretty good. Customer service is excellent. Scan the QR code attached for the menu options. Definitely recommended ?

We started with some Sambusas, and I ordered a glass of honey wine while my friends opted for honey tea. Those drinks came highly recommended by some friends of ours, and they were excellent! For our main courses, we shared a meat combo and a vegetarian combo, both served with injera on the side. It was an impressive amount of food—so much that even three hungry hikers couldn’t finish it all! I found the flavors to be very comforting and reminiscent of home-cooked meals. The food tasted quite similar to Indian cuisine, which I found fascinating considering how geographically distant the two countries are. Now, whenever I crave that comforting homemade feel in Downtown San Jose, I know I hav... View menu

Well what can I say…. Definitely an interesting experience. I am a big fan of Indian food so I’ve been told several times that Ethiopian has some similar flavors and are very rich in spices as well. The only thing I didn’t like was that the breadto eat and scoop the food with was cold. I was told that this is the traditional way of eating but I was not a fan of eating hotfood with cold bread. The staff was friendly and very informative when I was making my selections. The reason this place isgetting a 3 stars is because it was a bit dirty. They definitely should do some kind of spring cleaning there. It only made meimagine how the kitchen is and what type of hygiene is enforced in the kitche...

It's rare to find seafood at an Ethiopian restaurant, which makes this place unique. Their shrimp is seasoned perfectly and tastes amazing alongside the onions and tomatoes, combining delightful flavors. The chicken is stir-fried and reminds me of hibachi—it’s really impressive! I appreciate that their food is enjoyable hot or cold. The injera is exceptional and great even at room temperature. However, the collard greens were a bit bitter the last time I had them, and the potatoes can sometimes be large and slightly undercooked in the veggie combo with the cabbage. Personally, I'm not a fan of the dark lentils with the chili powder sauce. What I love most about this restaurant is the gener...

"I always go to this store as we live closeby. I always love to bring my kids in this store, and have them order their food. Yesterday, I went with my 3 yr old son (his bday) coz he wants a cake pop. I let him call the barista so she knows we're ready to order. My son said excuse me like 5 times, said hello like 3 times to get her attention coz she's talking with her coworker. She finally came up to us, my son ordered cakepops, I ordered 2 java chips and 1 mocha frappe. The baristas before were soooo nice, very friendly, welcoming but yesterday was the opposite. Btw, always sip a bit of your drinks before you leave the store coz yesterday I guess the barista who made the mocha frappe forgot to put in sugar syrup. I just found it today as my husband didn't drink his mocha frappe yesterday. Coz what if you just stopped by to get some drinks and you already left then found out something is wrong with your order. And also, they do not offer Java Chip anymore, so you gotta pay additional for the chips. The barista didn't even inform me about it, found out today when I checked the receipt online. I called in to let them know about my concerns, they offered to remake the mocha frappe. The barista who made our drinks was the one who took our order. Maybe she had a bad day. But then, I just wish the baristas will be more friendly and welcoming and inform the customer if a menu is no longer available so we have the option to change our order. "Location in a small strip mall type place up on second floor. We were greeted and seated quickly. We got hot jasmine tea to drink so I did not ask for a drink menu. Make sure to let the tea seep for a few minutes before pouring! I am not sure if they have one but it looks like they have a full bar in the corner so would not hurt to ask! We were looking for dim sum but they had just a few dim sum plates in the appetizer section so we got an entree to share as well. We were given some complimentary peanuts to start that had some kind of sauce on them, they were very tasty! We got traditional “juicy” dumplings I believe they were called. Which was steamed pork dumplings, lots of flavor! I did not care for dipping sauce, was a bit too sour for me but they were great on their own. Cucumber salad and BBQ pork buns were good as well. We ordered Tofu and Eggplant in garlic sauce. It was good but a bit on the sweet side, I’d prefer it if it were a spicy sauce but that’s just my preference. Tofu and eggplant were cooked perfectly and the flavor was still very pleasant. We were full and didn’t order dessert however they brought us a complimentary filled dumpling dessert and it was my favorite part of the meal! Tasted like a vanilla custard filling and was so good but did not see it on the dessert menu! Could have ate a handful more of those! 18% gratuity is always included! Which was fine for me in this case for good service and food. With the gratuity we paid $30 each. A bit pricey but we had leftovers and with everything being as good as it was, it is worth in my opinion. Would recommend!"
