"A solid Chinese spot specializing in steamed dishes.Intrigued by their steamed dish specialties, I recently took a visit. Nestled behind an old-fashioned façade was a clean and modern interior. I decided to order the Steamed Sliced Sole Fillet with Chili, Mushroom Shumai, and Mao’s Red Braised Pork. While the plating was certainly more refined than what you'd typically find at a Chinese restaurant, the flavors leaned towards the conventional. The Red Braised Pork, though tender, could have benefitted from a richer flavor profile. The Mushroom Shumai, although steamed, seemed rather dry on the inside, which was a bit of a letdown. The standout dish, however, was the Steamed Sliced Sole Fillet with Chili. Though heavily seasoned with spices, the fillet boasted a pleasantly chewy texture. Since our server didn't enquire about our preferred spice level, its spice was much more overpowering than I expected. Despite the heat, small bites of this dish were enjoyable and arguably the best of the lot.Overall, a respectable take on Chinese cuisine, with a good emphasis on steamed plates. The place brings together decent value, solid food quality, and a modern atmosphere in an unassuming package."

Way better than you might expect. Huge menu that goes far beyond spare ribs and chicken wings. Lots of interesting hunan specialties. Worth seeking out.

We ordered the beef and broccoli, but the broccoli was unexpectedly yellowish and seemed old. I can't believe the chef would serve a dish like that. It's very disappointing.

I dined at this restaurant and enjoyed the food, which was tasty and had generous portions. There is a parking meter right in front of the restaurant. I highly recommend the eggplant with duck!

This is the best Hunan cuisine in Boston! If you're an adventurous foodie, this spot is definitely worth a visit. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is inviting. View menu

Authentic Hunan cuisine. We loved the food. The only thing is my family is trying not to eat too much rice because of the glucose. The dishes is a bit too salty to eat without rice. So order enough rice.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Boston! Pretty big menu with a wide variety of unique and special dishes. Some street parking in Cleveland circle (or take the green line C), and a fairly good sized space.

My step mother grew up in China and thinks this is the best Chinese restaurant outside of Chinatown!! She’s not wrong, the food is delicious and authentic and I highly recommend it for those looking for great Chinese food. View menu

I got the seasme chicken, and they put so much seasme seed that the dish was 85% seasme seed and was almost inedible. There was a thick 1 in layer of seasme seeds, which drastically took away from the overall good, sweet taste of the sauce.

Stopped for some Chinese food at My Happy Hunan Kitchen enroute to see my baby daughter at Boston College ! When you walk in , right away you notice it’s an upscale restaurant ; very modern fixtures and music throughout the restaurant . Staff were pleasant and attentive , refilling water glasses, etc. I had the beef and broccoli which was plentiful and tasty with fresh broccoli and tender beef but it was a little salty . My daughter had the vegetable lo mein which was very tasty , better than most I’ve had. I also ordered the General Gau Chicken which was excellent , all food was cooked to order and nice and hot when served at the table! Prices were on the expensive side but of quality and q...

"No soup/sandwich shop compares in terms of price per quality, portion size, and different options in the area. I only started ordering from here about 2 weeks ago and I’ve now had 7 different kinds of soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches after the first order I started ordering two soups and a sandwich aka a soup to save for later because they’re just that good, every one of them. Price is so very reasonable and depending on which combo you get you can make out with a full sized sandwich and large sized homemade soup for $14.While it’s hard to recommend one thing over another in this circumstance since it’s all been great in their own ways, the Chicken Chowder is something I plan on getting a quart of next time it’s available. The Chicken Barley and Chicken Lemon Rice are ones I plan on getting quarts of in the future as well, and that’s not to discount the Chicken Noodle, Beef and Veg Noodle Stew, French Onion, and the current seasonal Chilled Gazpacha (which I probably wouldn’t have even tried it wasn’t from these guys . It’s all top quality. The Chicken Tarragon sandwich is my favorite in terms of sandwiches although it can’t combo with a soup as of now (please let us! . The best cheap soup combo sandwich is a tossup between the Cilantro Tuna and Ciabatta Sandwich, which are both incredible in their own ways. The only few drawbacks to this place are they don’t have every soup they make every day, are only open until 4PM, and aren’t open on the weekends. That said it’s worth it to plan accordingly for this. I never review anything but this place is worth it it’s the best if you’re a soup and sandwich person like I am."
