"We went to Serai after seeing it featured on Checks Please!, a restaurant review show on PBS's WTTW station in Chicago. The food lived up to the reviews. We were a party of 6 and decided to order a variety of dishes and share them with the table. We started with appetizers: Roti Pratha and Cumin Lamb Skewers. You HAVE to order to Roti Pratha! The pancakes were out of this world and such a great accompaniment to the stew. For entrees we ordered: Serai Curry Laksa, a curry milk soup with chicken and noodles, a favorite of everyone; Rendang Beef and Lamb, with Lamb being the favorite of the two; Mango Chicken, chicken with mango in a spicy sauce. We loved the Curry Laksa and Rendang Lamb the best. We had no room for dessert, but the table next to us had the coconut milk pudding , served in a coconut shell looked very appetizing. Service was OK. They brought entrees out as they were ready which gave us an opportunity to get started on one before the next came out. They could have been more attentive to our desire to share by bringing serving spoons, and extra dishes without us having to ask. We were there on a Tuesday evening, so it was not crowded or loud. The website does not show that they offer alcohol looks BYOB but they do offer drinks beer, wine, mixed drinks. We will definitely come back, if for nothing else, the Roti Pratha and to try the dessert! Parking can be a challenge as much of the side streets are permit parking and Milwaukee has bike lanes."

Very very good experience. Good staff. If you seat outside at the back you can bring your dog. Very good food. Fried chicken, curry, lamb, veggies and coconut dessert all so delicious!

This was our first indoor dining experience in over a year, and it was wonderful. The food and service were excellent. We were glad to see the tables spaced far apart and appreciated all the other measures that contributed to a safe dining environment.

Serai was closed for patio/outdoor dining. Disappointing given that we were not notified by OT/restaurant. A day earlier, I received a text to confirm my reservation. We opted for take out Crab Rangoon, Spicy Wonton, Tom Yum Soup, Roti Paratha, Shrimp Sambhal Nasi Goreng. It’s a hit or miss. View menu

Serai was delicious! We were all happy with our dishes. I enjoyed the casual atmosphere and it definitely felt like a step up from your go to delivery spots. Service was timely but pretty casual, which is not a bad thing as long as you're not looking for an upscale spot. I would recommend for sure!

TL;DR: Wrong order, poor service, long wait time, hidden 20% surcharge We used to love Serai and dined here frequently, and I usually do not post negative reviews. While the food was still delicious, our last experience at Serai was quite disappointing. 1) It took them 45 minutes after we placed our order to receive our food. Other tables that were seated after us received their food much more quickly. 2) Ordering food was a hassle. We ordered the sambal eggplant (one of our old favorites) and rendang shrimp. We received a shrimp dish which we thought was our rendang shrimp and after confirming with the server that it was rendang shrimp. But after eating it, we realized it was sambal shrimp....

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
