"Siam may not be the most authentic Thai restaurant in Chicago, but it is certainly the most welcoming spot for Thai students around the University of Chicago. This place has been serving students for generations, and the food feels like home to me. The catfish basil is a dish we always competed for the last bite, and the fried tilapia topped with a special sauce was a staple during our celebrations. The last time I visited, a friend who was there for the first time ordered a simple soup, and it turned out to be surprisingly delicious! I will definitely return for a meal the next time I’m at the University of Chicago."

The food was great, as usual. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We will be ordering from them again in the future.

The Kai Tom Kha was excellent, and I recommend pairing it with white rice! Does anyone have any insights on their chicken wings? I'm really eager to try them! Food rating: 4/5. View menu

Food was not badly priced! Especially the lunch menu, it came with soup and an egg roll. Pad thai sweetness was just right. Ambience was ok which i did not mind. Service was ok as well. Will definitely come again!

This take-out Thai restaurant has been a lifesaver during my time in Hyde Park. I would be remiss not to leave a glowing review. I highly recommend it! They offer a wide variety of vegetarian options as well. The menu is outstanding, and the flavors are impeccable!

Went for a casual date night this evening and wanted to stay around the neighborhood. We got the shumai, pot stickers and the crab Rangoon for appetizers. For entrees we got beef and broccoli and pad Thai. Absolutely phenomenal.Already looking forward to my next visit. View menu

I have never seen a place as disorganized as this place. Two servers are keep miscommunicating and saying contradictory things. They prioritize phone call orders over people who are ACTUALLY in the restaurant. It takes 30 minutes for the manager to control the cashier. I could not comment on the food because they decided to close before they would take my order but YOU SHOULD AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SOLID PLAN TO VISIT.

I am a regular here since it’s basically across the street from me. It is the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to the city and I’ve never looked back. The food is flavorful and fantastic (both take-out and dine-in), the wait-time is consistent, and the staff members are so sweet, friendly, and courteous. I recommend anything that uses their flat rice noodles like Pad Siew and their Panang curry. Also- their lunch/dinner special is insane, sooo much food.

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
