"The Barking Dog is my happy place. Its the only bar of its kind in Bethesda. Filled with excellent bartenders, managers, staff, and people. They have giant ? for sports, tables if you want a more relaxed restaurant style service, and a big space upstairs for parties. This place feels like family in Bethesda and doesnt pretend to be something it isnt. Food is great, drinks are great. Everyone is welcome and you can play whatever music you'd like. Its a neighborhood bar for friends, family, and strangers to come together and have a good time."

Great neighborhood bar. Service was wonderful. Atmosphere exactly as stated. Fried pickles were delicious!

The last dive bar in Bethesda, and well worth that title. Good beer selection, solid menu, a few too many televisions for my liking, but not all that distracting. Great customer service. A solid local joint.

If you want a good drink, a happy hour pitcher with some friends, a few good chicken wings, or a sandwich that is the place to be. It's a bar that feels like a bar. Just play nothing stupid on the jukebox or the regulars will make fun of you (as they should). View menu

Stop for lunch on Friday afternoon and wait very fast! Menu had a wide choice. I had the Buffalo hot wings and they were delicious! Very well seasoned, crispy and were completely coated in the Buffalo sauce! Overall had a good experience and would definitely come back for the wings.

Went to watch the World Cup Final. WOW, what a game. Had some irish coffee to start the morning, add two Raging B*tch beers. Good atmosphere. Their fries are decent too. The service was fast and consideret. Sat at the bar and had great view of the tv screen. They have plenty of screens around the place, awesome sports pub.

Pro: outdoor seating, nice staff, big tv all around. Con: loud music. After getting a recommendation from a staff at world of bear, we decided to stop by and grab a drink. The establishment has tv all around to view at every angle. The staff was very nice and attentive to our needs. The music was very loud and it was hard to hear conversations with our group. Three Stars Serves a Purpose, but that's the point. Good is above average for a bar. Service is great. The ambience is one of the best in the area. Drinks were terrible, which is the main reason for the low rating. I have fairly low standards for drinks, but they have tested my standards last night. You couldn't pull old fashioned and the other drink was too sweet. I will return, but I am still hunting for my favorite bar in downtown Bethesda.

My friends and I enjoyed lunch on a relatively quiet winter weekday. Although the service was not quick (we arrived just after two larger groups), the food arrived piping hot. My chicken quesadilla was topped with a pleasantly spicy drizzle. The fish, of the fish and chips, had noticeably flavored coating. The Doghouse Burger came on a real kaiser roll which stood up to the juicy burger. This place strives for dive bar ambience but is far too clean, and with too well-made food.
