"The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, and the waitstaff were both attentive and friendly. However, I found the food disappointing; it felt more like something off the shelf rather than freshly made. I couldn't manage to eat the chowder—it lacked flavor, was clumpy, and didn't contain any lobster or crab. Given that it was supposed to be a bourbon corn chowder with seafood, it was practically inedible, and I regretted spending $9 on it. The prices seemed steep for the quality of food offered. The "Asian" rice that accompanied my $23 prawn duo was dry and completely flavorless. The coconut shrimp tasted like it came from a box. The only item we somewhat enjoyed were the wings, but even they didn't justify the $17 price tag. Overall, I wouldn't return; I spent $70 and left feeling unsatisfied."

I will definitely be returning! The prices for both food and beer are very reasonable. I can’t wait to go back during my next visit. In my opinion, this is absolutely the best place in town!

Incredible food and exceptional service! We've been dining here since before the COVID pandemic, and I'm thrilled to see they are still thriving. Their corn chowder is outstanding, packed with lobster and crab, and their fish and chips are remarkable.

Was disappointed when we ordered the crab boil and got charged $48 for half a crab, four mussels/clams, and a potato in some water with melted margarine. Always had good seafood experiences at the coast, and for the price I expected much more, or even just some seasoning. Just disappointed but the money was spent so it is what it is. View menu

Very hit-and-miss, the recent hiring of an all 17-year-old staff has left a smack of ineptitude on the place, service is painfully slow even when there’s three servers on in an empty restaurant. When the right kitchen staff is in, the food can be impeccable, satisfying, and reasonably priced; otherwise it will come across as standard bar-fare. Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

The service was good. The food was good. Had the prawn duo. The coconut shrimp is really good. The asparagus was really good with the meal. The brisket macaroni is good, but maybe a little heavy on the fatty side, could probably use a vegetable or fruit or something to help up break up the fat from the cheese and the fat from the brisket. I recommend making reservations if you plan to go on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evenings during the summer.

A fantastic restaurant in Pacific City! It was formerly known as The Tidewater. They serve delicious French Dip sandwiches, French fries, and Fish and Chips! It brought back fond memories, as my husband and his band used to perform live music there. We had a table by the window, allowing us to watch the fishermen on the Nestucca River. They also offer a charming outdoor garden patio with tables where you can dine. Hats off to the chef and the wonderful waitstaff! Thank you for a delightful meal! Five stars! View menu

First of all, I want to highlight that the owner was fantastic. She truly went above and beyond for our group. However, our overall experience outside of our group was disappointing. The bartender was exceptionally rude and dismissive; she appeared quite frustrated to be serving us. It was quite unacceptable. Additionally, the size of the drinks we were served was surprisingly small. After two rounds, we decided to call it quits. It's likely that if we had been locals, we would have received better treatment, but as a large, prearranged group, it felt somewhat disrespectful.

I can't comment on the food since I haven't tried it yet, but I can definitely recommend the charming patio, the friendly service, and the fantastic drinks. Unlike many nearby places that charge beach tourist prices, The Oar House makes you feel like a local, even if it's your first time there. They offer a nice Happy Hour menu, but we opted for the regular cocktails. I had a delicious Negroni-inspired drink while my husband enjoyed a Manhattan. Our bill (before tip) came to under $20, and we were able to relax and chat with the couple at the next table. One patron even brought their small dog, so it's clear that the patio is pet-friendly as well. The entrees that passed by looked really app...
